G. Russell išvengė baudos ir Austrijoje startuos iš pirmosios vietos

George'as Russellas earned the "pole" position in the Austrian Grand Prix qualifying after a fierce battle in the final minutes. In a crucial lap, Max Verstappen made a rare mistake and crashed his Red Bull car in the ninth corner.

Lando Norris showed pace at the start of Q3, but soon Max Verstappen delivered an impressive lap - 1 min. 06.475 sec. It was the fastest result of the weekend so far.

However, in his final attempt, the Dutchman lost control of the car in the ninth corner, went off into the gravel, and hit the safety barriers. Fortunately, the four-time world champion was not seriously injured.

After Verstappen's crash, yellow flags appeared on the track, but it did not prevent G. Russell from setting an even faster lap and securing the first starting position.

Initially, there were doubts about whether the Mercedes driver violated the yellow flag rules, but the stewards did not annul his lap time, so the Brit officially took the pole.

Charles Leclerc took second place, briefly leading before Russell's finish. Lewis Hamilton finished third, continuing a successful run of Ferrari performances after his victory in Barcelona.
