Wimbledon day 3 recap: threats, statements and barricades!

Third day at Wilmbledon. London presented a shining sun, for players and crowds. No problem for Andy Murray, who reached Fabio Fognini in the third round. Wins also for Rafael Nadal, Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Marin Cilic, Johanna Konta (after a very exciting match against Donna Vekic), Victoria Azarenka and Elina Svitolina All the players who have withdrawn at the first round received about 35k pounds, despite the discontent of tickets holders.

Maybe the Slam should act as ATP does; A tennis player can withdraw before the match, taking the reward he owes. In his place however, a lucky loser comes in, and the match is still played. Former US Open Champion Flavia Pennetta, now commentator for Sky Sport Italy, expressed on Roger Federer: "When you see Roger you think it's so easy to play tennis, because actually seeing him play is enjoyable, and he doesn't sweat! Once at Roland Garros we all looked at him because his socks were white, which is impossible on clay!" A year has passed since Marion Bartoli revealed that she was suffered a virus that did not allow her to eat, losing weight.

She found herself in Southfields, south of London, without being able to get down the stairs. She was thinking of dying in sleep: "I did not know if I would wake up alive the next morning, but I thought 'If I have to die at Wimbledon, I accept it." Now she is very better then last year.

The distance quarrels between John McEnroe and Serena Williams keeps going on. The American said: "Serena tells me, 'Respect my privacy,' but then I see her appearing like Demi Moore on Vanity Fair's cover." Threats continue for tennis players.

This time it happened to Barbora Strycova, who was verbally assaulted by a bettor, in a direct way. The episode occurred at the end of the rainfall, when Strycova - in the first round match against Veronica Cepede - was approached by a crowd member, who said: "If you do not win, I will find you." Great attention at the All England Club in these two weeks of Wimbledon.

In the eye of crowd, fans and players, barricades of armed men around the club are well visible to ensure as much security as possible for the many spectators who go every year to the gates of the world's most important tournament (41,000 on the first day only).
