UEFA CL: Inter Milan vs Barcelona Betting Tips

Matchday 4 of UEFA Champions League begins and we’ve got a cracking fixture between two of the most in form teams in Europe right now. Barcelona won the first fixture 2-0 at Nou Camp where they were the dominant side but now we go to San Siro where we can expect a fiery Inter crowd to make it much tougher on Barca than in the first game. Inter are coming off a 5-0 win over Genoa, a week after they beat Lazio 0-3 while Barca have been on a winning streak with Messi out. A win officially sends Barca into the R16. As for Inter, a win could seal them a place in R16 assuming Spurs and PSV draw so there’s a lot to play for here.

Key Facts

Mauro Icardi has scored 8 goals in his last 8 apps for Inter

Inter have won 9 of their last 10 games in all competitions and 5 straight at San Siro.

Inter are yet to keep a clean sheet in the Champions League this season.

Inter Milan have scored 4 goals in the final 15 minutes in the previous 5 games. In fact Inter have won 5 games this season as a whole thanks to a goal in the final 15 minutes. Clutch.

Barcelona have only kept 2 clean sheets in their last 10 games conceding 13 goals in that run. However they’ve scored 24 in that run (2.4 per game)

On average there are 3.7 goals scored in Barcelona’s games this season.

Barcelona have won 5 straight games in all competitions

Luis Suarez has scored 6 goals in his last 4 apps. Picking up the slack

Barcelona have scored 7 goals in final 15 mins of play in their 5 game win run scoring at least one late  goal in each of those games.

Team News

Inter Milan: Inter don’t have any injury news coming into this game meaning they’ve got a healthy side for this game. Nainggolan returned from injury during the weekend and will hope to start against Barcelona. We saw a few first team players get rested in the weekend game against Genoa including star striker Mauro Icardi but expect all of the rested 1st teamers to return into the side here.

Barcelona: Barca have been given some great news as Lionel Messi could feature here as he’s returning from the arm injury. It’s more likely that Messi will come off the bench however therefore we can expect either Rafinha or Dembele to continue to start in his place. Umtiti and Vermaelen are still injury so Pique and Lenglet will continue to start at CB position, elsewhere there’s nothing to report and no changes are expected to be made by Valverde.

Betting Tips and Predictions

We’re expecting a pretty close game here. Barca dominated the first meeting but it’d be hard to expect the same as the tables turn to San Siro. We can definitely expect Inter to cause more problems and have more of a chance to win, in fact we see value in backing Inter in this match up playing behind that amazing crowd and being on the current form that they’re showing. A bet we’re willing to back is a goal to be scored in the final 15 minutes. Both of these sides like late goals as we’ve already mentioned so with the odds of 2+ it’s worth the look. Either back it pre game or live when it hits 75th min. Messi potentially coming on to play against tired legs is just another reason why it’s worth backing a late goal. It’s a 50/50 game in our eyes and we’re looking at a 1-1 draw or a 2-1 win either way.
