Barcelona
Out of the squad, new keeper Marc-André ter Stegen, Douglas, Sandro, Pedro, Marc Bartra, Martín Montoya and Gerard Piqué arguably have the most to gain from added minutes. Whether Lucho thinks it is necessary to instill that in his players at this point in the season is up to him. But it’s something that needs to be addressed before injuries start to make Lucho’s choices for him. Piqué’s lack of confidence against Athletic Bilbao was smellier than a rotting gazelle on the Serengeti, and any poacher of a forward worth his mettle will put as much pressure as possible on the out-of-form defender. By the same token, a rusty Adriano and Montoya could prove shaky cover for Jordi Alba at left back once his swashbuckling tendencies inevitably get him a hamstring injury.

APOEL Nicosia
With a Cyprus Supercup and two victories in the first two rounds of the Cypriot Championship in the back pocket, APOEL is off to a usual good start. And considering manager Giorgos Donis made off with a league and cup double last season, he certainly knows how to get the better of his opponents.Defensive veteran John Arne-Riise is perhaps the most recognizable name in the Cyprus squad, but his fitness will prevent him from taking the field. Greek central defender Anastasios Papazoglou has just returned from injury and will bolster the back line tasked with marking Barcelona’s pesky strikers.

Bayern Munchen
Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich experiment has thus far been largely characterised by a free-flowing, dynamic style that can only be praised. Yet, despite their utter dominance of German domestic football, there can be no mistaking that Champions League glory is the ultimate prize for the Bavarian giants. They seem likely to miss the talismanic figure of Arjen Robben this week due to injury, while Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thiago Alcantara are also set to miss the action. Javi Martinez is also unavailable, which will almost certainly necessitate the inclusion of Xabi Alonso in the holding role alongside Lahm.

Manuel Pellegrini will be banned from the touchline on Wednesday following comments he made in the wake of their Champions League exit to Barcelona last season. Pablo Zabaleta is also suspended, which will see the vastly experienced figure of Bacary Sagna charged with the unenviable task of marking Franck Ribery. I’m certain that Pellegrini will opt for one striker up front, considering the talent at Munich’s disposal. Fernandinho and Toure will offer a muscular force in midfield, while Pellegrini would be wise to utilise the electrifying pace of Navas on the counterattacks.

Newcastle United vs Liverpool

Newcastle United are unbeaten in 4 games since the loss to Stoke City that seemed certain to cost Alan Pardew his job as manager and the side have won 3 in a row in all competitions coming into this one. They are unbeaten at home since losing to Manchester City on the opening weekend of the season and Newcastle have won their last game at St James' Park against Leicester City 1-0.Newcastle’s biggest concern is that of Papiss Cisse’s knee injury which has kept him out of the last two matches. The Senegalese international will undergo a late fitness test to determine his availability for the game but if not, Ayoze Perez is likely to lead the line having grabbed the winning goal against Spurs. De Jong is a long term absentee due to a thigh injury and Davide Santon is likely to make a comeback from his knee problem at the end of next month.

Liverpool had won 2 of 8 games in all competitions before the 2-1 win over Swansea, but they haven't been producing good performances in that time which has built pressure on the team. They won their last away game at Queens Park Rangers which ended a run of consecutive away defeats in all competitions.Daniel Sturridge is again out of action for at least another week having injured his calf a fortnight ago. This will mean Balotelli is likely to start the match with Fabio Borini an option as a second striker. Arsenal vs Burnley

Last away matches - W-W-L-W-L-D

Arsenal have only lost 1 of their last 6 games in all competitions and they are unbeaten in 3 games since their 2-0 loss to Chelsea including winning back to back games at Anderlecht and Sunderland. They have only won 1 of their last 5 home games in all competitions including a 2- 2 home draw with Hull City in Arsenal's last Premier League games at the Emirates Stadium. Injuries are beginning to clear up a little for Arsene Wenger and his Arsenal team which are balancing Champions League and Premier League commitments. With a battle likely to develop for places in the top four over the course of the next few months, games against the likes of Burnley are ones they have to win, especially at the Emirates Stadium. The name on the lips of every Arsenal fan at the moment is Alexis Sanchez. The Chilean has been electric since arriving at the Emirates, carrying the team at times. The former Barcelona man has eight goals and three assists in his first 13 games for the North London club. Arsenal’s number 17 has dragged the under performing gunners kicking and screaming to some important results recently, including their 2-0 win over Sunderland at the weekend where Sanchez bagged himself a brace. The skill, technique, work rate, and pure desire of the Chilean has been vital for the squad. The Sunderland game at the weekend epitomized the work rate that the former Udinese man possess with both of his goals coming from his constant pressing. Alexis Sanchez is quite simply world class and, if he shows his class against Burnley, Arsenal should have enough to get the three points.

Last away matches - D-L-D-L-W-L

Burnley have failed to win any of 11 games in all competitions going back to the end of April and have lost back to back League games coming into this weekend, including a 1-3 home loss to Everton last Sunday. That game came just a couple of days after Everton played in the Europa League and highlights the difference in quality between Burnley and many in this Division. Burnley drew 2-2 at Leicester City in their last away game in the Premier League. Burnley have lacked goals all season, so their key man is there best goalscorer, Danny Ings. The 22 year old was Burnley’s top scorer in the Championship last season. The English striker finally opened his Premier League account over the weekend with the Bees only goal in a 3-1 loss to Everton. Through nine games, Burnley have only scored five goals, only Villa have scored fewer goals this season. The lack of goals has had an effect on the entire team and seems to have dragged down the team’s moral. The former Bourmouth striker is the team’s best striker and is the player with the class to put the ball in the back of the net consistently. Ings has to be the catalyst up front for Burnley to get anything from this match.

Hull City vs Southampton

Last away matches - D-D-L-D-L-L

The attacking midfielder on loan from Newcastle has started the last two games for the Tigers, and will be hoping to carry his impressive form from the Liverpool game into this crucial match. His link up play with Abel Hernandez could be crucial to Steve Bruce’s side if they hope to create chances against a robust Southampton midfield containing an explosive Steven Davis; his movement and technique to exploit the space between the midfield and defensive lines, as well as his central battle with Morgan Schneiderlin will largely dictate how this game will play out against a Southampton side that have only conceded 5 goals in their opening 9 games (the lowest of the league). His partnership with Abel Hernandez is showing signs of promise, and it’ll be interesting to see how he attempts to break down Southampton’s resolute centre back pairing of Jose Fonte and Toby Alderweireld.

Dusan Tadic’s imperious performances have not gone unnoticed recently, but it’s fair to say his partner up front Graziano Pelle is stealing all the headlines at the moment with his fantastic goalscoring record. However, Tadic’s presence in Ronald Koeman’s fluid front three is a big part of Southampton’s attacking intensity, and the 25-year old Serbian from FC Twente has settled in extremely well to the rigors of the Premier League. He notched up four assists in the Saints 8-0 hammering of a hapless Sunderland, only the 6th player to do so in a single game ( Bergkamp, Reyes, Fabregas, Adebayor, & Cazorla were the other 5 – and no, Adebayor’s haul came in a Tottenham shirt). The Saints boss will be hoping Tadic’s link-up play with Long and fellow Eridivisie import Pelle will be enough to see them through against a resolute Hull side.

Everton have won back to back Premier League games since their 2-1 loss at Manchester United and they are unbeaten in 3 games in all competitions going into this weekend. They have won 2 of their last 3 games at Goodison Park in all competitions, but those have sandwiched a 2-3 loss to Crystal Palace, the type of results Everton are looking to take out of their season. The side have moved up to 9th in the Premier League table and fans will point to the fact that Everton are only 2 points behind rivals Liverpool and 1 point behind Manchester United despite their poor start. Roberto Martinez will be keen to see an improvement at Goodison Park where Everton are 1-1-2 this season, scoring 10 goals and conceding 11. Kevin Mirallas is still unfit and will not play in this match along with John Stones who has suffered an injury. Bryan Oviedo has made a comeback in training but it is unlikely he will feature just yet. Arouna Kone has resumed training but he will be given time to prove his full fitness. Romelu Lukaku picked up a knock but it shouldn’t stop him from starting the match this weekend.

Swansea have won just 1 of their last 5 games in all competitions, but they did end a run of 5 games without a win in the Premier League by beating Leicester City 2-0 at the Liberty Stadium last weekend. Playing away from home has been something of a problem for Swansea as they have failed to win any of their last 4 in all competitions, losing 3 of those, since beating Manchester United at Old Trafford on the opening weekend of the season. The Swans have made a decent start to the Premier League season after some thought they could potentially struggle and they are 6th in the table with 14 points earned so far. Swansea have a 1-1-2 away record where they have scored 5 goals and conceded 7. Swansea are without Spanish center back Jordi Amat who joins English midfielder Leon Britton in the injury front. Dwight TIendalli and Ashley Richards have both recovered from respective injuries but they are still not match fit. Gylfi Sigurdsson should be fit enough to start the match after being subbed off early in second half last weekend. Rory Donelly is also not fully match fit.

The host from London are currently a run of two defeats and a draw, but the draw was taken in the last league round of the relatively strong WBA. Away with this success they are now more confident and full of confidence coming into this game that they get another much-needed victory. Their coach Warnock knows that the opponents of Sunderland is also in a crisis and will try to exploit this weakness of the opponent. With three other points, his charges would move towards mid-table. Despite the weak opponent they will not rush headlong forward, but rather try to usurp the dominance in midfield in. In this section we await the return of the major central defender Delaney, but also the return of midfielder McArthur. We should mention that goalkeeper Speroni and defender fails then injured.

When talking about the guests from Sunderland, then you should mention that they have no good playing shape first. Currently they have a run of two defeats in a row and just this black series brought them into the relegation zone. The first defeat of this series, they have certainly not forgotten, because they were thrashed 0:8 by Southampton. Then they have failed to score when hosting Arsenal, who beat them 2:0. Their trainer Poyet should quickly try to change what otherwise threatens his protégés an even bigger event down, because they have a heavy residual program. Now it is most important to end the losing streak, so a draw in London would also be a success. We should mention as the last thing that central defender Coates and midfielders Giaccherini and Alvarez fail injured.

Before the season it was clear that they have enough quality to go the relegation battle out of the way, but the expectations were much too high borrows. The defense is in fact very weak and is one of the worst defenses in the Primera. Home, they have won only one game, but their schedules are was not easy. Finally they got it in their stadium to do with Barsa, and lost the match. Then they had to complete two guest appearances. First, they won at Granada and then they experienced a real disgrace in Malaga. This game was the worst performance of the season the people of Madrid and they felt really, that they play a lot weaker without injured midfielder Bueno. Its use is now also questionable and indeed as is the use of the second key player from the midfield Raul Baena.

Although in a result crisis, but overall they can be satisfied with what has been achieved. Although you have some financial problems, but they are closer to mid-table as the relegation zone. So far, they have won two league games and drew four games. They recently had a series of three draws in a row, but then came the cameo at the overpowering Barsa and the series came to an end. After Barsa bankruptcy they played on the final day yet again in a draw. All in all, we wanted to mention that they have been waiting since mid-September for a victory. The last victory they achieved in Elche. The last league draw against Granada can not be regarded as a success actually, because they have played at home. They were even long time back, so they should not complain about the result. A similar gameplay we saw three games, as they have played against Levante. The final 3:3 home draw was taken at the end with good luck. Their trainer Garitano constantly changes the starting lineup, but it looks like at least attacker Piovaccari is set.

This was the first CL defeat in this season for the Russians. Until then, they beat Benfica 2:0 and drew Monaco 0:0. This means position 3 in group C. In total, Zenit are playing a nice season, because besides the last CL defeat, they only lost another two times. Last time at the Russian Kubok (Cup) game and second against Limassol in the CL-qualifiers. In the Russian league, they are still unbeaten after 12 match days. They also won their CL-test on the last weekend in the top-match against CSKA Moscow with 1:0. The Gunners may get Jack Wilshere back as he will have a late fitness test to determine whether he can play after taking a knock to his knee. Wenger’s team will get a boost with goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny returning from suspension. Anderlecht will be without defender Fabrice N’Sakala. Defender Bram Nuytinck is also a doubt with an injury.

Anderlecht’s key man is their goalscorer from the first meeting, Andy Najar. The Honduran winger scored his first Champions League goal to give Anderlecht the lead in Brussels. Despite not coming away with the points, Najar showed that he is a dangerous player. Najar has completed a take on every 19 minutes in the Champions League and has created a chance every 90 minutes, despite his team usually being on the back foot.

Juventus vs Olympiacos

Last away matches - W-L-L-D-L-W

Juventus are in trouble after already suffering from 2 defeats in group A. Those were painful, away defeats. Firstly, Allegri’s men lost at Vicente Calderon against Atletico Madrid (0:1), despite the fact that they controlled this match and were a better side. Two weeks ago Juventus lost very important game against Olympiakos (0:1 again). Italian champions played poorly in the first half, but they greatly improved after the break. However, goalkeeper Roberto did wonders between the posts and saved his team many times. Now, hosts realize how important Tuesday’s match is. “We've got to remain calm. We have to concentrate and play well, with high intensity. Those will be 95 minutes in which we are practically playing for our future in the Champions League. Winning is obligatory,” said coach Massimiliano Allegri. He also appears to know what his side need do better than they did 2 weeks ago: “We need to be technically stronger than we were in Greece because we got a lot of passes wrong, especially in the first half. We've got to make the most of the time in order to get the result that we want.” Allegri also realizes that his side should win by at least 2 goals, in order to have better head-to-head statistics against Olympiakos.

Away - Olympiacos
Last away matches - D-W-L-L-W-D

This game will be do or die for Juventus, a loss to Olympiakos will more or less end Juventus participation in the Champions League this year and that will not be viewed well in Italy. The Italian Champions have really struggled in Europe's elite competition the last couple of years although it is not really apparent why. With a star studded team including tevez, pirlo, morata, vidal and pogba there is no reason that Juve should be struggling to beat the likes of Malmo and Olympiakos, with no disrespect meant to the aforementioned. The team budgets are astronomically different with Juventus' wage bill probably 100 times larger. Yet when it comes to the Champions League Juventus seem unable to raise their game on the big occasion.Olympiakos it could be argues have over achieved thus far with two wins from three and both of them against the "better" sides in the group Athletico Madrid and Juventus. Kasami and Mitroglu will give Olympiakos a chance on the counter attack, both players have decent pace and know where the goals are. It could be a long evening up front though as Juventus will surely dominate possession again after holding 60% of the ball in the return fixture in Greece.

Borussia Dortmund vs Galatasaray

Last away matches - L-W-W-L-W-L

Dortmund take on Galatasaray at Signal-Iduna-Park in Champions League - Group Stage. This is Group D - 4th round. In addition to these teams in the group are Arsenal and Anderlecht. This will be a very exciting match. So, over 80, 000 football fans will witness the spectacle on the Signal-Iduna-Park, when a Champion League match between the hosts Borussia Dortmund, and Galatasaray will be played. In any event, the hosts are great crisis at the beginning of the new season in the Bundesliga. At one time they had more players in the hospital than in the field. It's their biggest problem. However, they have excellent results in the Champions League. Otherwise, they have an important match in the Bundesliga for three days against Hannover at home. Anyway, Borussia Dortmund continued their poor run of domestic form in the Bundesliga with a truly narrow 2-1 defeat to the hosts Bayern Munich. Jürgen Klopp's men created numerous chances and had sixteen shots against Cologne's five. Ilkay Gundogan returned to action for Borussia Dortmund's, but could not prevent his side from conceding two goals. BVB dropped to 14th on seven points after their third consecutive defeat. They are just three points above bottom club Werder Bremen. In contrast to their recent performances Bundesliga, Dortmund have six points from possible six in the UEFA Champions League. Erik Durm could switch to left-back, meaning Kevin Grosskreutz could start on the bench alongside Jakub Blaszczykowski, who is back from injury. Erik durm is likely to miss out for the visitors after suffering an injury during the warm-up before Saturday's defeat to FC Koln. Ilkay Gundogan, Marco Reus and Henrikh Mkhitaryan are all expected to feature after their recent returns from injury.

Away - Galatasaray
Last away matches - L-W-L-L-W-L

They have one draw and two defeats after three rounds. Only a win in this game would get the Turks back in the competition for the knockout phase. They know that, which is why we'll see them attacking the goal of BVB from the very start. The hosts have every right to be optimistic. After the 2:1 win over Kasimpasa at home, Galatasaray climbed onto the top of two Turkish Super League but was overtaken by Besiktas on Sunday evening. However, Cesare Prandelli's side have picked up just one point from their two Champions League fixtures this season. So the Turks are in danger of falling short to Galatasaray's target of reaching the Champions League round of last sixteen after the 4-1 away defeat against Arsenal. Before that, Galatasaray were held to a 1-1 draw at home by Belgian club Anderlecht in the opening group game. The Italian coach Prandelli has declared that he will select a full strength side because he has no injury worries ahead of the game. Meanwhile, Galatasaray hosts head into the match at the bottom of the group after taking just one point from a possible six. Despite their disappointing start in Europe, Cesare Prandelli's side have won three of their last four games in all competitions and will be eager to improve on that record in midweek. Gala have no fresh injury concerns, though Blerim Dzemaili and Felipe Melo are both one booking away from being handed a suspension. Otherwise, defender Semih Kaya (ankle injury) is doubtful.

Malmo vs Atletico Madrid

Home - Malmo
Last away matches - L-L-W-W-L-D

Malmo sit on the bottom of group A. Age Hareide’s men lost both away games in Champions League so far (0:2 Juventus, 0:5 Atletico Madrid), but they rather unexpectedly managed to beat at home Olympiakos (2:0). However, it should be noted that referees’ made mistakes in their favour in this game. Before this season, both clubs have met just once in history, long time ago. During 1966/67 campaign Atletico Madrid defeated Malmo 5:1 on aggregate (2:0 away, 3:1 home), in European Champions’ Club Cup. Generally, Malmo are doing well at home. In the league, Swedish side managed to score at least one goal in all of their 15 games played so far this year. In European cups Malmo performs well at their ground as well. It’s worth to know that Swedish champions didn’t lose any of their last 8 games in Europe. Moreover, they kept a clean sheet in all those matches. During this campaign Malmo managed to make a few surprises in the qualifiers as they progressed to the next rounds at the expense of Sparta Prague (2:0 home win) and FC Salzburg (3:0 home win). However, coach Hareide have bad experience with Spanish clubs, as he lost twice to Levante in the 2012/13 Europa League group stage when he was in charge of Helsingborg. During 2003/04 campaign, as Rosenborg’s coach, he was eliminated in the third qualifying round of Champions League by Deportivo La Coruna. Hareide remains optimistic despite heavy loss two weeks ago: “In Madrid we left their players too much space. Now we need to be closer and more aggressive. We’re much better prepared now,” he said. Good news is that goalkeeper Robin Olsen should be available. It’s not know whether Malmo will use their nominal 4-4-2 formation, because in the past they played with 3-5-2 when they were facing difficult opponents.

Away - Atletico Madrid
Last away matches - W-L-W-L-W-D

Atletico Madrid defeated on Saturday Cordoba (4:2) at home. Despite conceding two goals, coach Diego Simeone was happy with his team’s performance and he claims that they are getting better. Most important thing was that Antoine Griezmann scored a double, those were his first league goals in Atletico’s jersey. “He was brilliant. He played on a level we expect him to,” said Simeone about his French star. Game against Malmo is important for Atletico, as the situation in group A is not clear. Although Spanish champions lost on matchday 1 to Olympiakos in Greece, it’s worth to remember that they didn’t lose a single match on the road during last season in the Champions League.

Bayern Munich take on AS Roma at Allianz-Arena and Champions League - Group Stage. This is the 4th round in Group E. The hosts are at the top with three wins and with a goal difference of 9:1 after three rounds. Otherwise, this is a very strange group with Manchester City and CSKA Moscow. Nevertheless, these hosts are massive and they are simply unbeatable. Having said that they are unbeaten in all competitions and are looking good for qualification from Group E, sitting top with 9 points after the third match day. With Pep Guardiola tweaking his system, key players struggling for match fitness and a questionable defense, Bayern have their problems. If you look at the table though, those problems disappear; they are already four points clear at the top of the Bundesliga and five points clear the top of their Champions League. In the last game, they picked up a win against Borussia Dortmund 2-1 at home. Anyway, for this match Bayern are almost back to full strength, the returns of Franck Ribery and Mario Gotze will be most pleasing for Guardiola, and with Arjen Robben showing no signs of losing his attacking spark on the right wing the Spanish boss is almost spoiled for choice.

Away - AS Roma

On the other hand, guests are currently on 2nd place in Serie A with a total goal difference of 16: 6 and 3 points less than Juventus. In the last game, they were defeated 2-0 against Napoli. Anyway, after the terrible defeat against Bayern in those last three games they've picked up a 2-0 win against Cesena, 1 draw against Sampdoria 0-0 and 1 defeat against Napoli. Otherwise, Roma have impressed on their return to Europe's elite club competition, dismissing Group E whipping boys CSKA Moscow 5-1 in the first match day before leaving the Etihad with a very impressive point against Angleščina champions Manchester City. However, after the unrealistic results against Bayern they started to fall into shape. Of course, no one else can expect a similar result, and this will be a match with a lot more optimism for guests. Otherwise, a lot of pressure will fall on Totti to lead the line and provide the goal threat. Destro and Totti have a good understanding and the midfield combination play of Pjanic will provide them with the ball; expect them to test the Bayern backline more effectively than either City or CSKA in previous games. In any case, they will not be able to count on Maicon (Knee injury), Gianluca Curci (Elbow injury), and Davide Astori (Thigh injury).

Manchester City are doing fine in English Premier League, recent derby win over their biggest rivals, Manchester United, should give them additional boost. However, in the Champions League, Manuel Pellegrini’s men are struggling, they are still without a win after 3 rounds. They really disappointed two weeks ago in Moscow and only got a 2:2 draw against CSKA, despite being 2:0 up at half-time. Now, here comes a very important match for the English champions. “I don’t think it’s sudden death – you can continue mathematically but it’s an important game. We have just two more games to play and we need more points. Our team don’t consider it a final game but it’s a very important game. It’s impossible to be sure but I think this group will be decided in the last game against Rome in Italy.

Last away matches - W-L-D-D-W-W

Ajax fans are now against the favored Catalans a little optimistic, especially since the defeat at the Nou Camp Stadium was the only mistake in the last 12 games just before this very important duel. Players from Amsterdam have brought before namely two CL-draw and although once home to PSG as well as abroad at APOEL, while they have two Cup wins and a series of five wins and two draws in their own country. Last weekend the Dutch have won 4:0 against Dordrecht at home, which means that they still have four points behind the leaders PSV. But they certainly is much more important to have a positive atmosphere in the team. The goal tally is at an enviable level and coach de Boer has therefore no reason to change the starting lineup.

Away - Barcelona
Last away matches - L-W-L-D-W-W

In contrast to Ajax the Catalans can take this fight a little more relaxed. It is for them 15 days ago at home where they won 3:1 over Ajax and now have all four points more than the Dutch side. But their current game shape during the Primera is worrying, while certainly still remembers both of last year's defeat in Amsterdam and this year's defeat in the second CL-round in Paris against PSG. The most important thing is that the charges of coach Enrique conceded defeat in the last two rounds of Primera and first away at the biggest rivals Real Madrid. In this game, they also have the first goals conceded during the championship. Then last weekend Celta won 1:0 at the Nou Camp. The fans are naturally concerned and it is now expected that the Catalans will try to compensate for this error, at least with a CL victory.

Ajax vs Barcelona

Home - Ajax

Maribor vs Chelsea

Home - Maribor
Last away matches - W-L-W-D-D-W

Maribor had to wait 15 years in order to qualify to the group phase of UEFA Champions League again. 15 years ago Maribor finished their group on fourth place, with four points collected (1:0 Dynamo Kyiv, 0:0 Bayer Leverkusen). Last season Slovenian champions played in the Europa League when they faced other English club in group stage, Wigan Athletic. Maribor managed to get a home win (2:1) and it was their only victory against English clubs in history of seven games (overall record is W1, D1, L5). It’s worth to notice that during this season Maribor already made two surprised as they managed to get 1:1 draws against higher-rated opponents: Sporting Lisbon and Schalke 04. However, two weeks ago, they suffered from heavy 0:6 defeat at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. It was a one-way traffic, but now it’s time for a revenge. “Chelsea are a big club, probably the biggest to ever come to our stadium. But I trust my colleagues, we believe in ourselves and we know that we can play against any team in the world. Of course Chelsea are big favourites, but they will have to beat our defence firs. Yes, they are quick with a lot of creativity in attack. Everybody knows Chelsea, we watch them every week, so we know that they don’t have any weaknesses. But at the same time we are not afraid of anyone,” said defender Arghus.

Away - Chelsea
Last away matches - W-D-W-W-D-W

Chelsea are doing very well, both in English Premier League and UEFA Champions League. However, their recent league match (narrow 2:1 home win over Queens Park Rangers) wasn’t great and coach Jose Mourinho wasn’t happy with his team’s performance. “It’s important to win when you don’t play so well as normal. In the end we deserved to win but the result could’ve been more than such a narrow result. We have to be more consistent and play better,” said Portuguese manager. Generally, those are busy days for Chelsea. Around 10 days ago they played against Manchester United at Old Trafford, then in mid week they had to feature against Shrewsbury in Capital One Cup. Last Saturday there was a mentioned game against QPR, now Champions League match against Maribor, and finally Liverpool at the weekend just before the international break. “It was a very strange week to work and to be focused. We tried, but the individual performances weren't there (against QPR) and the collective performance was not there too,” Mourinho explained.

Paris Saint Germain vs APOEL Nicosia

Home - Paris Saint Germain
Last away matches - W-W-W-D-W-D

PSG are often criticised this season for not playing well enough. In fact, Laurent Blanc's men did really well in just one game, and that is home win over Barcelona (3:2) on matchday 2 in UEFA Champions League. Two weeks ago, in first match against APOEL in Cyprus, French champions didn’t impress either but again good fortune didn’t leave them and in the end they got much needed 3 points. Last weekend PSG put up another mediocre performance. Lorient were leading 1:0 at half time and were a clearly better side, however after the break PSG improved their level of play and won that match. Although PSG most often don’t impress, it should be said that they didn’t lose a single game this season. Now, in case of victory, they’ll secure their place in the play-offs (provided Ajax won’t beat Barcelona). Zlatan Ibrahimovic is still sidelined with injury. Players realize it’s an important game and they must play at high level. “In the league and in UEFA Champions League, you need to play with high intensity otherwise you are struggling.

Away - APOEL Nicosia
Last away matches - W-W-W-L-W-D

APOEL, after getting just 1 point from first 3 games, have now very little chances of progressing to the next round. The Cypriot club would need a victory from this match in order to retain realistic chances, but it’s unlikely to happen. In the past APOEL have never won any away game in the Champions League (overall record is W0, D5, L4). They also don’t have good memories from matches against French clubs on their ground in the recent years as APOEL have lost to Lyon (0:1) and Bordeaux (1:2) in the last few years.

Great tips man, but I think PSG will cover the -1.5 handicap. Sure, APOEL are no pushovers, but PSG are getting into form lately and can really turn the screw here. I expect a 2-0, 3-1 win.

Netherlands is that this game is must win. Having lost two of their first three in this group the Dutch must get a win here to get themselves back in contention in the group, with the Czech Republic taking on Iceland it is also an opportunity to make up ground on the front runners. Gus hiddink the new Netherlands manager who took over after the World Cup rested star striker Robin Van Persie in the friendly loss to Mexico on Wednesday. Schalke star Klass Jan Huntelaar started trhough the center and had an up and down night playing the position well but missing a couple of guilt edged chances. Van Persie will come back in on Sunday and the Manchester United striker will be looking to get on the end of Arjen Robbens creativity.. The Bayern Munich midfielder was the best player at the World Cup in the summer and has only recently returned to full fitness.

Expect the dutch to be ruthless here against a Latvia side that have struggled in the qualifying phase of tournaments and could continue that struggle as this is a really tough group. Turkey, Iceland and the Czech Republic make up the other heavy weights in this group and in reality Latvia could have hoped for a softer group. Latvia though have two poins from three games and they will take a solid defence to the Amsterdam Arena on Sunday evening. Latvia are one of the many improving minnows across Europe and as their players start branching out into the bigger European leagues we will see marked improvement across the board. Sabala the goalscorer against Turkey has been signed by Club Brugge and loaned out but generally Latvian football is going in the right direction and they are coming into this qualifying campaign after winning the Baltic Cup.

The hosts are currently on 3rd place with 1 win and 1 draw with a goal difference of 7:1 after two games in Group B. Otherwise, Group B is not too difficult group. In addition to these two teams there are still Israel, Cyprus, Bosnia & Herzegovina and Andorra. In any case, Belgium went to the last World Cup in Brazil as a dark horse due to their strong qualification campaign and impressive performance. Belgium won their group with three wins, and then beat the United States in the round of 16 before losing to Argentina in the Quarter-finals. For the record, Belgium have only lost one of their last twelve matches played, that was against Argentina in the 2014 World Cup. To date Belgium have played two Euro 2016 qualifiers so far - drawing against Bosnia and beating Andorra. A win here would put them level on points with Wales with a game in hand over Wales after that. Belgium have players who can score and look none other then the likes of Romelu Lukaku, Divock Origi, Christian Benteke and Eden Hazard who are a real threat in this match.

Away - Wales

On the other hand, visitors are currently on the top of the table. They have 2 wins and 1 draw with a goal difference of 4: 2 after three rounds. It must be admitted, they were a pleasant surprise, as the other side of Bosnia & Herzegovina is very unpleasant surprise. Nevertheless, it will be a big test for Wales as they travel to Belgium for this clash and they will start as the underdogs here. Also, it will be interesting to see if Wales under Chris Coleman can avoid defeat and continue their push for Euro 2016, Wales has a good start after three games while managing W2 D1 record and they are doing surprisingly well. Wales had to thank Gareth Bale against Andorra as he scored both goals, including a late, late winner as Wales squeezed past Andorrsa with a 2-1 victory. At home, Wales have managed a draw against United and a win over Cyprus. Still they have managed seven points from three games and that means they lead the group. If they can avoid defeat in this match then they would remain in the top two spot.

Norway have won two from three in qualifying their only loss coming against Italy which to be fair is to be expected. While Norway may be more famous for skiing and ice skating there are some great young players playing with Norway and moving to the best leagues in the world with Daeli plying his trade at Cardiff one of the new generation of Norway starlets. This is a tough game for the visitors as although Norway are expected to win Azerbaijan do not concede too many and have proven to be capable of springing the occasional shock in qualifying.

Italy vs Croatia

Home - Italy
Last away matches - W-W-W-W-L

Italy take on Croatia at Stadio Giuseppe Meazza in Euro - Qualification. This is the 4th round. The hosts are currently on 2nd place with 3 wins and with total goal difference of 5: 1 after three rounds in Group H. So, Italy have won all of their three matches in the group H - against Norway, Azerbaijan and Malta, and this match will be their first serious test against their main rivals for the first place on the table. Otherwise, Italian coach Antonio Conte uses the same formation that he used while he coached Juventus, with two strikers up front and a midfield tightened. However, he faces some problems before this match as he can not count on several key players. Andrea Pirlo and Riccardo Montollivo are out injured, while PSG midfielder Marco Verratti suffered a thigh injury at a training session and withdrew from the squad. The defender Angelo Ogbonna is also questionable, after complaining to a muscle strain injury. Leonardo Bonucci is suspended for this match. Italy have a fantastic home record in the qualifying campaigns over the past few years, winning each of their last six home matches since 2010. Their goal difference in the last six home games is 17:1, but those victories were achieved against European minnow sides. Interesting fact is that Italy have never beaten United in a competitive match. They have played six matches total, and United have won three times while three matches have ended in draws. Last time Italy faced Croatia was at Euro 2012 when Poland and the match ended in a 1-1 draw. In this game, the hosts have quite a difficult task. Their opponent has great potential; however, the big question is whether they will prove that on the ground in this game.

Away - Croatia
Last away matches - L-W-W-L-D

On the other hand, visitors are currently on the top of the table with the same number of points as their opponent. In any case, the Croatia also have a perfect record from their qualifying campaign so far, winning all three of their matches so far. Only the goal difference separates them with Italy at the top. Croatia`s defense has been great in their three matches so far, and they are yet to concede a goal in their qualifying matches. They managed a 2-0 victory over Malta, 0-1 victory over Bulgaria and a 6-0 victory over Azerbaijan. During midweek, Croatia played a test match against Argentina at Upton Park in London, which ended in a 2-1 victory for Argentina. The loss was not that bad, as United were the better opponents for the bigger part of the match and they had a goal lead at half-time. Croatia played with their second squad, as several first team players were rested for this match against Italy. Positive team news for United is that they have no significant absentees for this match, and most of their players are in a very good form. Mario Mandzukic, Ivan Perisic, Ivica Olic, Mateo Kovacic, Luka Modric and Ivan Rakitic have all been superb recently.

Turkey have had an awful start to their qualification campaign with 2 defeats in their opening 3 matches, losing their opening game 3-0 away to Iceland and following that up with a 2-1 home defeat against Czech Republic.

ENGLISH LEAGUE TWO
11/17/2014

Wycombe Wanderers vs Burton Albion

Home - Wycombe Wanderers
Last away matches - W-W-L-W-D-W

Wycombe take on Burton at Adams Park in England League Two. The hosts were very solid team in this season. Otherwise, they are barely survived last season in League Two. They are finished on 22nd place with the same number of points as Bristol Rovers who were relegated from the league. In the new season, they are currently on 3rd place with 9 wins, 5 draws and 2 losses with a total goal difference of 23:12 with 32 points so far. They have two points less than Luton who picked up a win against Tranmere. Also, the hosts have 3 wins, 1 draw and 1 defeat in the last five games. In any event, as noted, Wycombe currently sit in third place just two points behind new league leaders Luton Town, and they've been in pretty good form themselves in recent weeks as they've lost just once in their last thirteen league matches despite losing top place. That loss was a 1-2 defeat away at Exeter City who are sitting mid-table but have lost just twice at home this season. Aside form that though, Wycombe have maintained their push for an automatic promotion spot with wins over Morecambe AFC Wimbledon and Oxford United lately with a point at home against Dagenham & Redbridge, while their overall home form reads 4 wins, 3 draws and 1 defeat with a goal difference of 10: 6th Incidentally, The Chairboys have only played one match at home against top half opposition so far this season and that ended in a 0-0 draw with Bury. Nevertheless, they will seek a win this match at any cost. However, this will not be an easy job. Their opponent is also very solid team.

Away - Burton Albion
Last away matches - L-L-W-W-L-L

On the other hand, visitors are currently on 6th place with 9 wins, 2 draws and 5 defeats with a total goal difference of 21:20 after 16 rounds of the new season. In any case, Burton Albion visitors recently appointed former Leeds United and Holland striker Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink-as manager to replace Gary Rowett who took over at Birmingham City, and this will be his first game in charge of the Brewers who are just three league places and three points behind their hosts so far. Burton's fortunes have been mixed in recent weeks as they've registered away wins at Northampton Town and Carlisle United, and draw with Plymouth Argyle at the Pirelli Stadium, but also defeats to Morecambe and Stevenage. Their away record stands at 4 wins, 1 draw and 3 defeats with goal difference of 11:13 but this has taken a bit of a dent as they've lost three of their last five on the road with defeats at AFC Wimbledon, Bury and Stevenage. Hasselbaink will therefore be keen to avoid another defeat here this afternoon against one of Burton's main rivals for at least a play-off place.

Atletico Goianiense vs Bragantino

Home - Atletico Goianiense
Last away matches - L-D-W-W-D-L

Atletico GO finally lose a match after the amazing form they had shown in the last two and a half months. The team was on the amazing run of nine consecutive matches without a single defeat in the league, having been able to win a whole six of those matches (6-3-0), as this run allowed them to move to the top four and to be among the promotion candidates, but in the weekend this great run had finally came to an end, as the club lost against Parana with 0:2 on the road. However, still, with fifteen victories in the thirty five matches played until now and with fifty three points collected in those games (15-8-12), the team is currently on fifth place, but just one single point behind the fourth position, so in the last three rounds of the season they will try and get the maximum amount of points, especially in their two home matches, to be able to get in the top four in the very last moment. And having in mind their great performance at home during the whole season and the ten victories so far in the seventeen matches played (10-4-3), as well as their great form recently at their arena, having collected sixteen points from their last six games (5-1-0), I doubt that they will do a mistake exactly here.

Away - Bragantino
Last away matches - L-L-L-L-D-L

Bragantino continues to collect a lot of points at home recently and in the same time to lose match after match on the road, but so far this pays off, as the club is currently three points ahead of the relegation zone, with just three rounds remaining, so maybe one more victory in their last home match can be enough for their survival. The team had won a whole three times in their last four matches in front of their fans in the league (3-0-1).

Avai SC vs Portuguesa Desportos

Home - Avai SC
Last away matches - L-L-L-L-L-D

Avai is on the verge of losing their ticket to Serie A in the fashion they did it last season as well and this will be another huge blow for the club, as they are coming really close every single time to the promotion and at the end are left with just nothing, which is really terrible, but still in this midweek round they have one final chance to get back in the fight for the top four, playing at home against the already relegated Portuguesa side and everything else but the three points for the would mean end of their ambitions. Last season Avai had a terrible end of the campaign, as they had lost four times in the last five rounds in Serie B and that cost them the place in the top four and the promotion to the best in the country and right now we are looking at the same disaster from the club, as they are on a really terrible shape in the last months and slipped out of the top four, despite being there for almost the whole season so far. The team had won just one single point in their last six league matches (0-1-5) and because of that horrible run, from being in the top three and having really nice advantage over the fifth and behind in the table, they had now dropped down to the eight place in the ranks, with just three rounds left to be played, but still they are just one single point behind the fourth Ceara, who has a tough away game this round and three points against Portuguesa will surely bring them back in the fight for the top four.

Away - Portuguesa Desportos
Last away matches - L-L-L-D-L-D

Portuguesa in the same time is already relegated and despite that they had collected a whole four points in their last two league matches (1-1-0), still I just can't see how they will get something against Avai, who are really struggling and need all the points in this fixture. Overall the team had managed to win the embarrassing four times so far in the thirty five games played in Serie B (4-13-18), which just proves how terrible season they had got and really how much behind the rest of the field in the league they were in this campaign. Also on the road Portuguesa had collected just one single point in their last five league matches (0-1-4)

Currently Icasa is with thirty nine points in the ranks, just three behind the safety zone and having in mind their amazing performance at home recently, having managed to collect thirteen from the possible maximum fifteen points at their arena in the last five matches played in Serie B (4-1-0) and with the fact that two of their last three games of the season will be at home, with three points here they will surely get back in the fight against the bottom four.

Icasa vs Parana

Home - Icasa
Last away matches - L-D-W-L-D-L

Icasa is on a great run in this final part of the campaign and despite that they had lost in the last round against America RN as visitors with 0:2, which was a really important game, still they are looking for three points in that match, as another mistake against direct opponent against relegation will be just too much at this stage of the season. Before that defeat the team was on a great run of five consecutive games without a defeat, having been able to collect a whole eleven points in those matches (3-2-0), which allowed them to have the chance to fight against relegation.

Parana is also still not safe, but the situation for them looks pretty good right now, as after the victory against Atletico GO with 2:0 in th

Oeste Itapolis vs Nautico Capibaribe

Home - Oeste Itapolis
Last away matches - W-D-L-D-D-L

Oeste continues the fight against relegation and showing a really nice run recently, which so far allows them to stay out of the danger zone and another eventual three points here will be a huge step for them towards salvation, while in the same time mistake here would really hurt their hopes of getting away from the danger this season and keeping their place in the second class division of the Brazilian football. Like I said, the team is in really good shape recently, as they had managed to collect a whole seven points in their last three league matches (2-1-0), which allowed them currently to make three points advantage over the bottom four and the relegation zone, but still Icasa and America RN are both really close, so there is no room for mistakes yet, especially at home and especially against a side, who had just secured their Serie B status for another season. Just like every other side in Serie B, Oeste is dependable mainly on their performance at home, having lost just three times in front of their fans so far in the whole season, collecting twenty eight points (7-7-3).

Away - Nautico Capibaribe
Last away matches - L-L-D-W-D-L

Nautico in the same time already have nothing to play for in the last three rounds. The team had managed to beat Luverdanse at home with 1:0 in the last round and with that are now ten points clear of the relegation zone, with just there rounds remaining, or in other words even mathematically after the victory in the weekend they are safe and can breath easily and celebrate, so I don't expect them just three days after this great news to be on their highest level against Oeste, who in the same time will be totally motivated. Also Nautico recently lost twice in a row on the road against teams that needed the points like Icasa and Boa .

Boa MG vs Joinville EC

Home - Boa MG
Last away matches - L-W-L-L-L-L

Boa suffered a really heavy defeat from Sampaio Correa with 0:3 as visitors in the weekend, as not only the result was really bad for them, but also the zero points won ensured that the club will be just outside the top four before the final three rounds and now in front of their fans there is just no room for mistake against surely the club in best shape in the recent months and maybe the whole season Joinville. The good news for Boa is that they are going to play this match at home, where they are feeling much better during the whole season so far and had managed to win a whole eleven times so far in the seventeen games played at their arena, having collected thirty five points in them (11-2-4), as well as having won the amazing nine times in just their last eleven games here (9-1-1). The recent matches of the team are really high scoring, a whole four of their last five meetings in the league had ended with over 2.5 goals in them.

Away - Joinville EC
Last away matches - W-W-W-L-L-W

Joinville continues with their really amazing form and after yet another victory and mistake from Ponte Preta in the same time, they had finally managed to step at the very top of the table, just three rounds before the end of the campaign and surely they will want to keep that place until the end of the season. The team had guaranteed their place in Serie A a long time ago, but this does not stop their ambitions to get only victories until the end of the season and the current seven wins in a row are surely more than impressive, as a whole five of those seven matches had ended with at least three goals in them.
