NFL Tips and Advice:

Before the season even begins, look through the schedule, look at the over/under win total props.

Don’t go with the popular plays. If you notice that all of your buddies are playing the same game and all of them like the same side, you should be very cautious of the game they are playing and even think about going the other way. If something seems to good to be true, then it probably is.

Teams change in the NFL and do not forget that.

The Arizona Cardinals look to continue their domination of division foes when they open the season Sunday against the San Francisco 49ers.

The NFC champion Cardinals went 3-7 outside the division last season but won all six games against the weak West. That gave the Cardinals their first division title since 1975 despite a 9-7 overall record.

With so many weapons, the Cardinals ranked among league leaders with 26.7 points and 365.8 yards per game. They had enough offense to beat the 49ers twice, but the defense got a lot of the credit for their 29-24 home victory Nov. 10.

The Niners are encouraged going into this year after winning four of their final five games. Arizona will likely see a lot of Frank Gore, who will get most of the carries in a run-oriented offense.

The Cards are pegged as 6-point home favorites on Sunday. The road team is 7-0 ATS in the last seven meetings between these clubs.

---------------------------------------------

With big-name distractions like Terrell Owens and Adam “Pacman” Jones out of the picture, the Dallas Cowboys start looking to recover from another disastrous end to a season as they visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Sunday.

Considered by many a Super Bowl favorite the previous two years, Dallas does not seem to be getting such widespread praise heading into this season. Bodog has them listed at +1500 to win the championship this season.

Before playing its first regular-season game at its $1.15 billion stadium, Dallas looks to spoil the debut of Buccaneers first-year coach Raheem Morris.

A four-game losing streak to end last season cost Tampa Bay a playoff spot as well as coach Jon Gruden his job, and Morris has taken over after serving as the Bucs’ defensive backs coach.

Dallas is listed as a 6-point favorite, while the home team is 5-0 ATS in their last five meetings.

-----------------------------------------

Looking to finally put the Plaxico incident in the past as well as replace Burress’ production, the 6.5-point favored New York Giants open their season by hosting the Washington Redskins on Sunday.

New York won its first game without Burress, defeating the Redskins 23-7 the day after the shooting, but the loss of the 6-foot-5 receiver was clearly felt as the Giants dropped three of their last four games before falling to Philadelphia in their playoff opener.

The biggest key for the Redskins is the continued growth of fourth-year quarterback Jason Campbell, who threw for 3,245 yards with 13 touchdowns and six interceptions last season.

-----------------------------------

The 8.5-point favored Seattle Seahawks look to bounce back from their first losing finish since 2002 as they try to continue their recent dominance of the St. Louis Rams in both teams’ season opener.

Matt Hasselbeck has a new target in receiver T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

Houshmandzadeh, a Pro Bowler in 2007, caught 92 passes for 904 yards and four touchdowns in 2008 in a weak Cincinnati offense that lost quarterback Carson Palmer early in the season. He’s caught 372 passes over the last four seasons, most in the league.

Hasselbeck is 23-10 against NFC West rivals since Seattle joined the division in 2002. He’s helped Seattle win all eight meetings with St. Louis over the last four seasons by an average of 10.5 points.

The Rams will be a better bet if Marc Bulger can be healthy in time for the opener. Bulger took direct snaps Wednesday for the first time since breaking his right pinkie in practice.

Jim Zorn’s team, which opens on the road against New York for the second straight year, was outscored 39-14 in losing both matchups with the Giants in 2008. They have lost five of the last six meetings.

The Giants are 20-6 ATS in their last 26 games overall.

The NFL game between the Packers and Bears makes for discussions as to who to pick, even more so as Bodog sportsbook offers live sports betting on the game.

BoDog Sportsbook has the NFL week 1 live sports betting odds up and they are currently favoring the home-team Green Bay Packers by 3.5 points which has been steamed up a bit from the -3 opener.
