help! I''m being conned!

I feel like an old timer saying this, but last November I was at a casino in Reno, and I just couldn't tell the staff from the random well-suited people who approached me and offered to give me so called fool proof winning tips, place my bets for me, or even cash in my chips for me! Just how stupid do I really look? And more importantly, what about the really stupid people? God knows you can find THEM on many a casino floor! This shady casino sub-industry must be a multi-billion business! In my days the shady businesses revolving casinos were done in the back allies on in hotel rooms, not on the floor!
And the more the surveillance measures get better, the more nerve these cons seem to have! Is there anyone here who plays Reno? Did you see what I saw? And how can we stop it?

If I were you I would suggest you report these people to the management of the casino. I have my suspicions, that they want to stop this most vehemently.

I can totally relate. And you are correct – hustling is a big, big business. Limited only by how rich and how gullible the victims are. What can we do about it? Don't let anyone snatch your chip, that’s one. Another thing is don't be tempted to do a scam with someone you just met, because chances are you will get scammed yourself. There are just so many stories about poor suckers who became victims of these scams. And it's getting worse. Check out this story: I found this one in a european site, it could just save you from losing your teeth at a SPAM.
This is just one example; the worst thing is when the casino staff is in on it. Advice? Whatever offer you get, if you don't know the guy, just say no.

I am just disgusted by how people can turn so greedy and sleazy and willing to scam everything around them when only given the chance. People should concentrate on beating the house and getting their statistics right, not screwing people over just because it's a casino!
