22-year-old Sevilla player Kike Salas is awaiting trial after being arrested last week over match-fixing allegations.
Authorities accuse Salas of betting-related fraud, claiming he deliberately received yellow cards during La Liga matches to benefit third parties.
According to SBC Noticias, the Royal Spanish Football Federation (RFEF) filed the case today and is awaiting the final court ruling. The RFEF may impose disciplinary actions, including a five-year ban from professional football and a €30,000 fine.
Reports suggest Salas was involved in a match-fixing ring. In the 2023/24 season, he was booked 10 times, seven of which occurred in his last nine games, raising suspicions. Two individuals linked to placing bets on these bookings are also under investigation, with authorities not ruling out a broader match-fixing network.
