Bundesliga: Bayern Munich vs Borussia Dortmund Betting Preview

The biggest Bundesliga game of the season so far as the top 2 face off at the Allianz Arena as Bayern Munich seek to overtake Dortmund for 1st place this weekend!

The situation is clear, both teams need to get a result here. Dortmund currently are the league leaders with 63 pts, 2 pts above 2nd placed Bayern so if Dortmund were to win it’d be a HUGE step towards the title, but if Bayern win they’d go above their rivals. A lot is at stake in this meeting.

Looking at form, both teams seem to be playing well right now. Bayern have picked up 19 from their last 21 available points in the league (6W 1D) and although they drew their last game against Freiburg, it shouldn’t diminish the fact that Bayern are playing some great football overall at the moment in the league.

Meanwhile, Dortmund seem to have fixed their issues with form. Dortmund are entering this game on a 3 game win streak beating Stuttgart, Hertha and Wolfsburg. All 3 wins required an 84th min or later winning goals which has shown that Dortmund have been showing great character in recent games to stay on top of the Bundesliga.

Bayern’s form at the Allianz Arena has been nothing short of spectacular in the league. Since their early season home struggles, Bayern have been on a roll at home winning 7 straight league games at home while scoring 24 goals (12 in their last 2 at home in the league) so currently Bayern are on an absolute roll at home in Bundesliga which is a going to be a big advantage to play at home for them this weekend.

Dortmund’s away form has been slightly suspect lately. Although they won their most recent away game at Hertha Berlin 2-3 which by the way required Hertha to go down to 10 men. However, Dortmund have only managed 2 wins from last 6 away games (2D 2L) so away form is definitely a bit of an issue.

Robert Lewandowski is the man to watch for Bayern of course. Clinical striker has been bagging goals for fun again this season and is showing incredible form right having scored 8 goals in last 6 apps for Bayern. Lewandowski also has scored 13 goals against Dortmund in his career so to add all that up, expect in form Lewandowski to haunt his former club again.

As for Dortmund there are multiple players to watch that all possess same threat. Paco Alcacer and Marco Reus are both having great goal scoring seasons with 16 and 15 goals while Jadon Sancho is the top assist man in the league with 13. This trio could cause some serious problems for Bayern as they seek to move Dortmund 5 points clear at the top.

Dortmund did beat Bayern in the reverse fixture 3-2 in what was a crazy game between the title rivals. Bayern took the lead twice, but 2 goals from Reus and a winning goal by Alcacer earned Dortmund 3 points in that meeting.

Looking at recent H2H at the Allianz Arena, Bayern have had good success winning 4 consecutive Bundesliga home games against Dortmund and the last 3 have been by scores of 4-1, 5-1 and 6-0 so it’s safe to say that Bayern have owned Dortmund at home in the league lately which could be a big advantage for them entering this weekend.

Bayern are tipped as firm bookies favourites to win this game despite the standings. Bayern to win is 1.52 while Dortmund are priced at 5.90 which could hold a lot of value considering they’re a dangerous side. Draw is offered at 4.65. Experience in winning these games does favour Bayern so it’s understandable why they’re such favourites, but don’t underestimate this young and hungry Dortmund side. Odds based on Tonybet.
