Atletico Madrid vs Sevilla

Home - Atletico Madrid
Last away matches - W-L-W-D-D-W

Atletico Madrid
Defending champions Atletico Madrid have lost Diego Costa to Chelsea, which might explain their slightly unflattering performance in the new season of La Liga. Parking at number three, the side have won three of their last five league matches while the remainders were draws. Although they remain unbeaten in the Spanish top-flight football, they are in constant pressure by the current leaders, Barcelona, as well as their upcoming foes, Sevilla who have made impressive stunts to put themselves in the top two. In addition, they lost all the points to Olympiakos from their latest appearance in the Champions League.

Away - Sevilla
Last away matches - W-W-W-L-W-W

Sevilla
La Liga’s breakthrough club of the new season, Sevilla made a comfortable ascent to the top two after earning victories [almost] week after week. They are currently level on points with frontrunners Barcelona and were only knocked off the table’s summit by goal difference. The Sevillistas have already scored a total of nine league goals, with triumphs against Espanyol, Getafe, Cordoba, and Real Sociedad. At the Europa League, they pulled off a two-goal clean sheet against Feyenoord, thanks to the brilliant passes by Gerard Deulefeu which were successfully converted by Grzegorz Krychowiak and Stephane M’Bia.

Levante vs Rayo Vallecano

Home - Levante
Last away matches - W-D-L-L-W-W

Levante
After opening their campaign with an appalling 0-2 home loss to Villarreal, Levante never seemed to have learned from their mistakes and failed again to grab significant points from their next three meetings. In fact, they have already conceded 10 goals in just four matches but without actually scoring any. Fortunately, the very ugly streak has been broken in their fifth league fixture. Ruben Garcia’s goal in the 46th minute served as the only goal netted in their brawl versus Granada. This gave them three points to advance their hopes of pulling themselves out of the relegation zone.

Away - Rayo Vallecano
Last away matches - L-D-L-D-D-L

Rayo Vallecano
Like Levante, Rayo obtained their very first La Liga victory of the season from their most recent battle (versus Athletic Bilbao 2-1). This was at the back of a pair of draws and defeats which mainly characterized their campaign for the first four weeks of the tournament. Los Franjirrojos, however, have a much more acceptable goal difference from their hosts as they are only handicapped by a two-goal deficit. A good execution in the front rwo plus a strong support from the back will allow Rayo to recover in their next few battles—provided that they truly deliver.

Athletico Bilbao vs Eibar

Home - Athletico Bilbao
Last away matches - L-L-L-D-D-W

Athletico Bilbao
Bilbao have had no joy playing football this month. They began with a loss at the Camp Nou and were beaten at home by Granada last Saturday. Sandwiched in between the two matches was a drab 0-0 draw at home in the champions league against Shakhtar Donetsk. Their only win of the league season this year came against Levante on August 30 when they beat the latter by 3 goals – one each from Aritz Aduriz, Iturraspe, and Iker Muniain. The win had come after the side had secured passage into their first ever campaign in the modern Champions League by beating Italian side Napoli in the second leg of their playoff match. Aduriz had scored a brace on that occasion with Ibai Gomez scoring as well in a 3-1 win for the Basques.

Away - Eibar
Last away matches - W-W-L-W-L-W

Eibar
Eibar have had a decent start to their campaign thus far. They had begun with a home win over Real Sociedad on the opening day of the season in a match which was decided by Javi Lara’s solitary strike. Following a dream start to their campaign, Eibar went down to the defending champions by 2-1 in Madrid and their disappointment continued into the third gameweek when they lost to fellow promoted side Deportivo La Coruna. In their last match coming into this game, Eibar secured a crucial 2-0 away win at Elche which might help them stay in this division at the end of the ongoing season. Dani Garcia and Raul Albentosa scored the two goals, both of which came in the first half of the game.

Barcelona
Out of the squad, new keeper Marc-André ter Stegen, Douglas, Sandro, Pedro, Marc Bartra, Martín Montoya and Gerard Piqué arguably have the most to gain from added minutes. Whether Lucho thinks it is necessary to instill that in his players at this point in the season is up to him. But it’s something that needs to be addressed before injuries start to make Lucho’s choices for him. Piqué’s lack of confidence against Athletic Bilbao was smellier than a rotting gazelle on the Serengeti, and any poacher of a forward worth his mettle will put as much pressure as possible on the out-of-form defender. By the same token, a rusty Adriano and Montoya could prove shaky cover for Jordi Alba at left back once his swashbuckling tendencies inevitably get him a hamstring injury.

With a Cyprus Supercup and two victories in the first two rounds of the Cypriot Championship in the back pocket, APOEL is off to a usual good start. And considering manager Giorgos Donis made off with a league and cup double last season, he certainly knows how to get the better of his opponents.Defensive veteran John Arne-Riise is perhaps the most recognizable name in the Cyprus squad, but his fitness will prevent him from taking the field. Greek central defender Anastasios Papazoglou has just returned from injury and will bolster the back line tasked with marking Barcelona’s pesky strikers.

Bayern Munchen
Pep Guardiola’s Bayern Munich experiment has thus far been largely characterised by a free-flowing, dynamic style that can only be praised. Yet, despite their utter dominance of German domestic football, there can be no mistaking that Champions League glory is the ultimate prize for the Bavarian giants. They seem likely to miss the talismanic figure of Arjen Robben this week due to injury, while Bastian Schweinsteiger and Thiago Alcantara are also set to miss the action. Javi Martinez is also unavailable, which will almost certainly necessitate the inclusion of Xabi Alonso in the holding role alongside Lahm.

Manuel Pellegrini will be banned from the touchline on Wednesday following comments he made in the wake of their Champions League exit to Barcelona last season. Pablo Zabaleta is also suspended, which will see the vastly experienced figure of Bacary Sagna charged with the unenviable task of marking Franck Ribery. I’m certain that Pellegrini will opt for one striker up front, considering the talent at Munich’s disposal. Fernandinho and Toure will offer a muscular force in midfield, while Pellegrini would be wise to utilise the electrifying pace of Navas on the counterattacks.

APOEL Nicosia vs Ajax

Home - APOEL Nicosia
Last away matches - W-W-L-L-W-W

Apoel Nicosia the home team has 2 wins in their last 4 games and 1 draw. They had a good start to this season before they met Barcelona in the Nou Camp and was defeated by 1-0. If we don’t count that then they were undefeated in their last 3 games and scored 7 goals while conceding 1. But their defeat didn’t come as a surprise. The fact that they were able to hold Barcelona to only 1 goal meant they played well and their defense was good. Their league performance proves that too. Its up to them that either they take that loss positively and try to win this match or take it negatively which will hinder their performance in the next game. In my eyes they will be favored to win this game. Leading the rankings in the current season of the Cypriot top-tier league, APOEL are clearly one of the stongest sides to come out of Cyprus and compete in the UEFA tournament. Form-wise, however, the side are not necessarily displaying a perfect façade. In the ir last five matches, they have won three times, forced a draw once, and were beaten once as well. The only defeat from this streak was incurred from the Champions League Group stage opening, when they were beaten by Spanish side Barcelona and landed at the bottom of the group table.

Away - Ajax
Last away matches - W-W-W-L-W-L

Ajax managed to hold off Paris Saint Germain in their last Champions league match. Their play was outstanding and they were good at both offense and defense. There league performance is good and they are looking to win this match to keep their chance to go farther in the tournament. So they will play their best and the fact that they managed to hold of PSG should give them a lot of confidence. One of the Netherlands’ most successful teams, Ajax have been a perennial squad in the Champions League; in fact, they have already won the title four times. Their Group stage debut in the new season of the UEFA top-tier tournament gave them one point to rank in the mid-table, thanks to a grueling and highly entertaining battle they engaged with French giants Paris Saint-Germain. However, they need more than just a draw from their continental campaign and their chance to win back the Cup would only be strengthened if they make it on top—or near the top—of the Group round.

Samir Nasri has undergone groin surgery that will rule him out for over a month, while Fernando will not be ready for the midweek encounter. However, Stevan Jovetic is in line to return for Manuel Pellegrini. If we talk about last 5 games then it becomes apparent that Manchester City is struggling to do anything on the field. A loss to Stoke city and another loss to Bayern Munich are in last 5 games while they also have 2 draw against Arsenal and Chelsea. Although their match up was against some strong clubs but a loss to Stoke was terrible performance from them. The only good news for them is they are coming into this match after thrashing Hull City by 4-2. Although their offense seemed pretty good but their defense was very poor in comparison. They will be the underdog in this match but they have equal chance of winning this match as Roma.

They found the back of opponents net 9 times in these games while allowing only 1 goal from the opponents. Their offense and defense looked solid and they were very positive on the field showing that they are here to win. BATE Borisov vs Athletic Bilbao

Home - BATE Borisov
Last away matches - D-L-W-D-W-D

BATE will be in a lot of pressure to win this game and try to avoid two consecutive loss as they were hammered in their last game against Porto. They were beaten by 6-0 and that will take a toll on the players. So they are desperate to win this game and gain back some of that lost confidence. Their unbeaten streak came to a standstill in their last game and they played very poor after a few goals were scored. The only side from Belarus to compete in the Champions League multiple times, BATE do not disappoint in terms of local flare and international charisma. The squad have managed to put their losses at a minimum in their past 32 matches—having lost zero times in the Premier League. However, the Champions League is a different story and while their form is generally okay, their UEFA Group stage debut was far from acceptable. BATE suffered the worst defeat of the tournament’s opening, conceding six goals to Porto while scoring zero. Their subsequent battle was not that impressive either, as they battled out a goalless draw against Dinamo Minsk in the Belarusian top-tier football.

Away - Athletic Bilbao
Last away matches - L-L-L-D-D-W

Athletic on the other hand were beaten by Malaga, Barcelona and Rayo. The moment they manage a win, they loose the next game. Its been tough for them but such poor result doesn’t do justice to their capability. Their last match was a draw against Eibar. They are finding it hard score while allowing a lot of goals but they are a good team and if they manage to play their best then they will be able to pull of a victory in this match. They are eager to get back to wining and considering their players and team capability, they are the favorites to win this game. Bilbao’s last five matches were largely unimpressive. While they managed to hold Eibar in La Liga and Shakhtar in the Champions League, they failed to earn all the marbles from Barcelona, Granada, and Rayo Vallecano—all in the Spanish top-flight tournament. However, the team have a strong record in UEFA. They have been runner up twice in the Champions League, first in the 1976-77 season and the second in the 2011-12 fixtures. They have also been Europa League participants several times and were winners of the Copa del Rey in 24 non-consecutive editions

Paris Saint Germain vs Barcelona

Home - Paris Saint Germain
Last away matches - D-W-D-D-D-W

PSG has looked to get back into the upper echelon of European soccer with their free spending for legit players in the last couple of years, but can they beat the Spanish Giant? Odds makers have them as the home betting underdog in the first leg between these 2 teams in Champions League group play.Maybe the bigger question for PSG is can they score on the Barcelona defense? To say that the Barca defense is in top form would be a major understatement, as through 5 Spain La Liga matches they have yet to concede a goal. These 2 teams are not in the toughest of groups, but PSG did not get off to a good start playing to a draw with Ajax while Barca took 3 points beating APOEL. If PSG loses this match they may have to settle for 2nd in group play, which would mean they would likely play a top-flight club IF they advance to the knockout stage.

Away - Barcelona
Last away matches - D-W-W-W-D-W

Barcelona is tied with Valencia for first place in the La Liga table and they should be first, but played to a scoreless draw in their last match facing Malaga. It is no secret who the Barca defense has to key on in this CL match. Zlatan Ibrahimovic ranks 2nd in Ligue 1 with 5 goals and Edinson Cavani has 3. This due has scored more than half of PSG's goals this season in league play and if the Barcelona defense can keep them in check they have a great shot to take 3 points.Lionel Messi and Neymar each have 2 goals apiece and they ware the players the PSG defense has to key on. On the Ligue 1 season PSG has conceded 4 goals in 7 matches. While Messi is obviously a superstar the PSG defense cannot only focus on him, as he has made them pay when teams do that and that can be seen since he has the most assists so far in La Liga play.Look for PSG to employ the same old tactics that other clubs use against Barca, which is to drop back on defense, big time, and pick and choose their times to attack. However, that is not the strength of the French squad 11 and their counter-attack game does not suit them.PSG plays an attacking style and they are not as strong as Barcelona in the midfield. That area of the pitch will be very important in this game, especially for PSG, who really need to make sure than Barca does not totally dominate the time of possession.

APOEL Nicosia

I’m certain that Pellegrini will opt for one striker up front, considering the talent at Munich’s disposal. Fernandinho and Toure will offer a muscular force in midfield, while Pellegrini would be wise to utilise the electrifying pace of Navas on the counterattacks.

Zenit made a strong start in its Champions League campaign when it scored 2 goals and kept Benfica at bay. This automatically earned them 3 crucial points that will somehow, make them a bit more secured in their upcoming matches. However, the squad cannot afford to be too complacent since Monaco, like them, is eager to advance in the competition’s next stage. Zenit’s winning streak has also ended when Spartak held them to a draw last weekend. Hopefully, this will not affect their confidence and use it as inspiration instead. The team is solid defensively while scoring an average of almost three goals per game. This does not stop at the borders of Russia, since even in the European Cup, this observation is confirmed. Zenit went prevail in Portuguese Benfica, a regular in the competition, with a score of 2-0. There is therefore a strong team that is really not easy to play and is in great shape. Surely this is not the best time to play the Russians.

The squad continues to struggle after the loss of its star players such as James Rodriguez and Radamel Falcao. Its current situation is far-flung shot from what it accomplished last season. Bayer Leverkusen vs Benfica
Bayer Leverkusen and Benfica are two of the Champions League's perennial dark horses, but they're unfortunate to have been drawn in a very even group this year. In Group C there are no great teams to take points from everyone, and there are no bad teams from which you can guarantee three points. It's as unpredictable as any matchup in the tournament.

Nicolás Gaitán has been Benfica's best player for a few years now, and yet bizarrely no bigger team has been willing to take him on and give him a chance in one of Europe's major leagues. Not that that's a bad thing for Benfica, of course. He's sometimes a nominal winger, and at other times a central attacking midfielder, but his position isn't really important -- he drifts laterally across the field from wherever he's deployed. Superb in one-on-ones and a fine passer, he'll be a big part of any success Benfica have in this match.

Ludogorets is a newly established Bulgarian club. They play their home matches in UEFA competitions in Sofia, 400 km away from Razgrad. Last year they had a good run in Europa League, until they were stopped by Valencia in round of 16, it was first time when Ludogorets faced Spanish club. Bulgarian side eliminated Steaua Bucuresti in order to reach group phase of Champions League. Romanian defender Moti was hero of the second-leg as he saved two penalties in penalty shoot-out. In the first match of group stage Ludogorets did well and almost stopped Liverpool at Anfield Road. In the final seconds of the match goalkeeper Borjan made a mistake and referee gave a doubtful penalty for The Reds, which denied Ludogorets from making a big surprise. Now, coach Georgi Dermendzhiev is looking forward for the home match against Real Madrid. “They are the best team in the world and they have best players. It’s an honour for us to play against them. They won European Cup ten times and they are reigning champions.

Real Madrid are obvious favourites of this clash, however coach Carlo Ancelotti assures his team won’t underestimate their rivals. “There are no average teams in Champions League. Everyone saw how well they played in Liverpool,” said Ancelotti. He was also asked about best Ludogorets’ player, but he denied to point just one footballer: “Our strategy is to stop the team, not particular players. I was surprised with their courageous play at Anfield, they have quality, it’s a dynamic team, very dangerous on counter attacks, they play with high intensity. It won’t be an easy match.” Some people believe Los Blancos will rotate with the squad and rest best players. “I don’t plan rotations. When I see that player is tired then I rest him. First group matches are very important and it’s imperative for us to have 6 points after 2 games,” said Italian manager.

Oympiacos have to be feeling great as they enter their second group stage of this season's Champions League against Malmö. The Greeks pulled off an upset of last season's runner-up Atlético Madrid in their opener, and could find themselves with six points and at least a share of the top spot in Group A if things go their way.Considering that most looked at the group after the draw earlier this year and immediately pegged Olympiacos to drop to the Europa League, its ould be a wonderful start to their campaign. There's still a long way to go, but there's not a coach in the competition who wouldn't be pleased with six points from their first two games.

Away - Olympiacos
Last away matches - L-W-D-L-W-L

Olympiacos are going to try and test Malmö's defense so the task of keeping the back line organized and keeping the ball out of the goal falls to goalkeeper Robin Olsen. He wasn't bad making six saves, but his team also lined up in an extremely conservative formation. With Malmö likely to open things up a bit and try to get a home victory, there should be space for Olympiacos to play into.

APOEL Nicosia

Manchester City

They also haven’t lost a match in UEFA fixtures this season.Dinamo Moscow readily controlled the match against Panathinaikos. In Europe they look dominant, as they have triumphed in all five matches this season, including two away games. Their previous victory in Moscow was against CSKA in the 2007/08 UEFA Champions League group stage.Eindhoven survived an acid test against Estoril in its first Europa League encounter, thanks to Luuk de Jong’s converted penalty. The said goal was the sole goal in a match that could have ended in a scoreless stalemate. After outlasting Estoril, many are expecting Eindhoven to cruise against another crucial test when they go against the football betting favorite, Dinamo Moscow.

FC Krasnodar vs Everton

Last away matches - W-W-D-W-L-W

FC Krasnodar play in the Russian city of Krasnodar, in the southwestern part of the country. They play in the Russian Premier League and currently sit sixth on the league table. The side arrived to the group stage of the Europa League via the second round of competition, where they did not concede a goal at home.FC Krasnodar enjoyed a convincing 3-0 over Arsenal Tula as their good start to the Russian League continued. In terms of injuries, the Kuban side is looking in good shape as they host their first ever European game. Brazilians Wanderson and Joaozinho appear to be in good form and are the main threats for the Everton defence.

Everton face the unenviable task of travelling to Kuban Stadium in Russia, to take on FC Krasnodar on Thursday night as they attempt to make it 2 wins from 2 games in the Europa League. Everton did have the little matter of the Merseyside Derby to attend to on the weekend, and despite not getting the 3pts, confidence in the squad would have received a timely boost courtesy of the late Jagielka thunderbolt that salvaged a point from the game. However, now they face a daunting trip to Krasnodar, which is a 20hr drive from Moscow, as they now begin to realise the true test of the Europa League. Of course, Everton did get off to a terrific start in the Europa League as they defeated German side VfL Wolfsburg 4-1, meanwhile the hosts, FC Krasnodar picked up a good point away to French side OSC Lille. It may only be the 2nd group game of the campaign, but it is a big game for both sides as a win for either side would mean they go top of the group and put themselves in a good position to qualify for the knockout stages.
