Spain Wins World Cup 1-0

Plenty of chances were missed and there was a record 14 yellow cards handed out, but Spain's Andres Iniesta struck in the 116th minute to send Spaniards across the globe into an emotional frenzy. The 11th-hour goal beat the Netherlands 1-0 and sealed the first World Cup in Spain's history.

There was just four minutes left in extra time when Iniesta netted the World Championship shot, but the Dutch had plenty of chances to grab its first Cup in Netherlands history.

In the second half Dutch Midfielder Arjen Robben had a breakaway shot at goal but Spain skipper Iker Casillas made the save of his career, getting his toe out to deflect the shot wide.

Spain was a -175 favorite to win the contest, and bettors who bet on the draw at +1000 nearly got a pretty payout if not for Iniesta.

Iniesta, the Spanish team and the entire country went insane when he scored. It's going to be quite a party in Madrid tonight.

Big congratulations to Spain. They have been a solid team thru-out the tournament. Maybe the best defensive team. I feel germany was the best offensive team though but they lost against Spain in the semifinal.

Spains playing style took good care of germanies offensive and they couldn't tear apart the players positions like in other games.

Sorry holland but you played too tough against spain, it was never a UFC match. I really disliked how they played in the first round against spain and lowered the quality.

I guess that's why it ended in a record of yellow cards in the final.
