Building the Bankroll From $50

Reply Subscribe
Hi everyone. After all this talk about building a bankroll from little or nothing, I've decided to give it a try. Started a new account over at PlayersOnly and plopped in $50.

Do you guys have any tips and advice as to which game / limits I should tackle to safely grow my bankroll?

Are you on a tight budget and want to play it safe and at the same time learn poker try some smaller sitngo tournaments. If you lose you dont lose much and can just join a new sitngo.

No idea how good you are, but you can learn alot from just playing sitngo tourneys. Lots of variety, some players are donks, others tight, aggressive, loose and so on.

Ring game on the other hand I recommend for skilled players only or players that knows what their are doing.

I have seen players lose alot of cash in NL Holdem micro limits over-time. Yes micro limits. $50 bucks can easily be lost in 30-60 min as a weak player. Again I do not know how well you play.

Stay away from Ring Games.

:what:

I would suggest finding a Low Buy-in SNG.
Players Only is on the Merge Network so the traffic isn't that high.
Meaning you may have to wait for games to start from time to time.

Careful of all the Donks.

Best of Luck.

Thank you for the informative replies! Just to clarify, I'm not a noobie player - been playing on PS for quite some time now, but this is the first time I'm trying to grow my bankroll using a small investment instead of a sizable chunk.

I usually 4-table 1/2 NL games and stay away from the tempting MTTs. Haven't tried many SNG's so I'll definitely look into that! Thank you for the advice.

But above all, I am wondering what transitions I need to make from a bigger bankroll and higher limits to the even smaller limits (and more donks)? Are the cash games really that bad when the stakes go lower?

Just an aside: I am a pretty loose aggressive player. I love Gus Hansen's playing style and play a lot of smallball.

Quick update:

Sitting at 87.59 after 2 days.

Tried out many of the options suggested and decided to settle with the Double up Tournaments. Those seem quite profitable at the moment.

$50 to $87.59 in just two days!? :thumbsup

double up sng's are better than playing in 1/2nl... you'd go busto early if you do!
study the art of bankroll management... lots of articles can be read over the poker sites. that is the first thing you must learn before kickin' some ass on the online poker world.
