The 2015 PokerStars World Championship of Online Poker (WCOOP) got underway this weekend as thousands of poker players compete for $45 million in guaranteed prize money. The 14th running of the internet’s most popular poker tournament series will go all the way through September 27th and will feature 70 events. The WCOOP, as always, ends with the $5,200 No-Limit Hold’em Main Event.
This year’s WCOOP is largely the same as previous years’, give or take a few events and some guaranteed money. One significant event addition is that of the $51,000 Super High Roller tournament, a contest that PokerStars says is the most expensive tournament in online poker history. The WCOOP has had $25,000 buy-in heads-up tourneys, but this new offering dwarfs that.
