Grinding freerolls

I have been grinding all this year to be in the 8th month with my Fulltilt account staying at zero. Taking the Ferguson challenge is way out of my mind right now. I grind and grind the freerolls to get my bank up, then I am drawn to the cash tables where I slowly and painstakingly give it back. I think the best option for US players now is going to be freerolls like the ones we used to have here. I got a PM the other day asking about my check withdrawal when I withdrew from Fulltilt. The first couple went fine, but I had to send in information that the site requested for security. The next few and I mean few times I withdrew by check, my bank asked a bunch of questions and wanted to put a 7-day hold on the check amount. Even though I had the checks covered.

Any who, I am not giving up on online poker. The poker beast can be tamed. I have just got to find my niche and always try my best in all tourneys. In freerolls it is ok to play your "A" game. Don't fall into the trap of "Oh I can play like a donkey in freerolls and change back to a pro when I spend money." You should take every game as serious as the next, even if it is free. The goal is to win, not play bad. Playing bad can get you only so far in a freeroll. At some point you will meet players with the skill to succeed in freerolls and they will be gunning for those chips you just built up from crappy play. Now can you change your play to skill at the drop of a hat or keep playing 27 os out of position cause it is your "lucky hand".

You can find me grinding on Fulltilt as XPOKERCHIC and playing freerolls like it is for a million dollars. LOL.....X

I feel your pain... I quit depositing on Merge and decided I can get money from freerolls. For months I grinded for pennies, then I changed the way I play freerolls and started winning. In the past 10 days I have won 140.00 in freerolls. Then my idiot side shows itself and I blow it all on cash tables. Now I am back to 0.00 in the account. I spent 10 days playing great tournaments to lose it all in 2 hours on the cash tables.
My problem is, I chase lost money. I will lose 20.00 on the cash tables because I am tilting and keep getting back on the table to try and win it back only to lose more.

I understand where you are coming from Xpokerchic...I refuse to deposit and play mostly freerolls. Problem is, there are not a lot of them out there. I am not big on playing with 7499 other people to try and make it to the top 45.

I miss IXGames Full Tilt freeroll. Not sure what happened there but hopefully it comes back.

It seems as times go on the freerolls become few and far between. But as long as I enjoy playing them........I will continue to grind it out.

I think many tournament players don't realize the difference in play from cash games and tournaments. there is always dead money players in a tournament while cash games for the most part are usually a higher quality of players, even the smaller stakes. next time your on full tilt if you do a player search you will find that most, maybe everyone at your table is multi-tabling.

We will be back with tournaments, not sure how often though. We needed a summer break to finish other things ixgames related and we are not at the end yet.

We still wanted to have atleast one regular freeroll going so we put the energy on the wednesday games. But they will come back.

What we are doing right now is planning on a new forum design and we are probably going to take the easy way of not having it custom made. But it will be good, trust me. Better colors, easier to read things and overall just so much better.

You know the reviews we have on ixgames.com they will change and everyone will be able to rate and make comments to all poker sites, casino, sportbooks etc. The part of you being able to rate and make comments is called "User Reviews".

Anyway, we will announce everything when it's time and I hope it will be a good fall and winter with a bigger community, more things to do but still with a friendly touch.

I have read your comments about chasing lost money and losing your grind money on cash tables. Why dont you try and play some SNG's ?

They are less cash table like and with more tournament feel.

Maybe you should search for the right SNG and buyin and try how it works.

I mean you might find there are SNG's that suits you alot better than just throwing away your money on cash tables.

When you purchase entrance to a buyin tournament see it as an investment. An investment that's more sure than any cash tables atleast if you are not mature for it.

The big problem with cash tables is the huge amount of player styles, you just cant read all of them and many players dont even play poker, they dont care if they lose money just to get into your mind and make you confused. and then when you thought you had everything under control BAM you go all-in losing and losing again. Tilting.

I don't know what it is. I try to grind it out in a freeroll only to get drawn out on when all the money goes in. I just lost with QQ to KT os. All the money got in pf and wouldn't ya know a K hit on the flop. I knew he was playing loose and was capable of calling atc. but with his reraise i thought the best play was to push.

I would just like to get back to winning lol. With the wife laid off and things getting tighter, I have switched to freerolls (spent my br on a custody battle). Any more advice on how to get a decent stack so the suckouts don't hurt as bad would be greatly appreciated
