A recent article in the Cyprus Mail revealed that online gambling operators are very upset with the government which has implemented a new law causing many online gambling operators to close in Cyprus. Several firms are looking to the courts for justice because in their opinion the new law is in violation of EU regulations.

One firm AA Crown Bet Ltd., is considering suing the Cyprus Republic and they are appealing to the European Court of Justice to review the laws in Cyprus which they consider to be discriminatory.

While businesses are still figuring out how to utilize the iPad in their day-to-day activities, the world’s most popular tablet is being used what Apple intended it for: Surfing the internet and consuming entertainment.

A new report by the Consumer Intelligence Research Partners shows that 27 percent of people primarily use their iPad for surfing the internet, while 40 percent use it for playing games and enjoying entertainment. “Entertainment includes watching video, looking at photo and listening to music,” the report says.

When the UIGEA was passed in 2006 as an attachment to the Safe Port bill, I wrote an article expressing disgust that the government would sink so low as to attach a gambling bill to one designed to protect the country from terrorism. I received an email response from a politician (Democrat by the way); claiming that my article wasn’t well thought out because gambling and terrorism indeed were related. The politician stated that terrorists can use online gambling sites to launder money so the connection was reasonable.

Of the many low points of the last Labour government, one of the most contemptible was its effort to encourage the spread of casinos and internet betting, when families were already being ripped apart by gambling addiction.

Indeed, it was only after a public outcry, led by the Mail, that the then Culture Secretary watered down her plans for a free-for-all, ditching supercasinos and setting up the Gambling Commission to regulate the industry.

Mark Pincus, chief executive of Zynga, said in a conference call with analysts today that the company will launch its first real-money online gambling poker game in the first half of 2013. The game will likely be launched outside the U.S., since real-money online gambling is still illegal in the vast majority of states.

There are regulatory roadblocks in many countries, but Europe is pretty open. Pincus said the launch will be subject to online gambling regulatory reviews. The game merger and acquisition craze is still hot in 2012 thanks to the rapid growth in the number and size of game deals this year.

Data from the Corum Group, a mergers and acquisitions services company, and Digi-Capital show that this year continues to be a hot one for the game industry, according to a presentation by Jim Perkins and Alina Soltys at the Casual Connect game conference in Seattle.

MGA Entertainment claims the singer requested the removal of a voice chip from their Lady Gaga doll, which then jeopardised their ability to meet retail deadlines, reports the New York Daily News. The toymakers allege that Gaga and her team "engaged in intentional and deliberate delays" to postpone its launch until 2013, to coincide with her new album and perfume.

The company claims it sent prototypes to Gaga in March and the singer asked that the doll’s facial structure “be more supermodel-like.”

“Think a prettier version of Gaga,” MGA officials say they were instructed via emails. “Thin out the cheeks and sharpen the jawline. Give her more of a cat-eye and sexier, poutier lips." After meeting Gaga's demands, which also included a "Born This Way" zombie doll ensemble, MGA sent samples back to the singer in April, and that was when she allegedly asked that its voice chip be pulled. The singer then sent word that she wanted shipping delayed to 2013, despite MGA already making deals with distributors on its end.

I think yes, I am Internet Addict. I spend 15 hours a day browsing in Internet. BUt I am scared when I heard that too much Internet is bad for our health.
