Hi miller3, you can cancel any withdrawals before they have been processed by betfair (up to 24 hours). If it has been longer than 24 hour, you can go to pending withdrawals( “Pending Withdrawals” in “My Account” --> “Withdraw Funds from Betfair”), click "reverse" button and your withdrawal will be instantly returned to your available account balance.

Hello pillpop, net deposits are the difference between 'Total Deposits' and 'Total Withdrawals'.
The calculation is 'Total Deposits' – 'Total Withdrawals' = 'Net Deposits'.

I'm very confused with this lay option on betfair. People say to lay a football team means to bet against them winning. Why is it that the lay and back odds are very similar? Shouldn't they be opposite? E.g I saw a match where the odds to back one team to win was 1.42, and the odds to lay them were 1.38, shouldn't the odds to not win (lay) be higher?

On Betfair and all exchange betting site there are 2 basic betting options for you:

1) Backing- This is your traditional wager where you bet on an outcome coming true.
For example if you back a horse in a race you want that horse to win so that you win your bet and make money.

2) Laying- You are the bookmaker (house) here. Now if you lay a horse you don't wnt that horse to win. If the horse wins you have to pay out the winnings to the other betfair user that wanted o back that selection at the odds you offered.

Heres an example of laying:

You decide that a horse won't win the race and you decide to 'lay' it offering a price of 3 (2/1). Now you decide to lay £50 (or whatever currency) against it. This gives you a liability of £100 as at 2/1 if it wins the other betfair user who backs it at the price you offered gets winnings of 2x50=100. You would only be able to make this lay bet if you have at least £100 in your betfair account.

So the 2 possible outcomes are:

1) the horse wins the race and you lose £100 to the betfair user who your bet was matched with.

2) the horse doesn't win the race. You win the £50 from the backer minus betfairs comission (5%).

I hope this helps.

Hello pillpop, if at least one of your chosen selections is not an in-play market or if betting on one of your selections is suspended for any reason cash Out will not be available.

Hello idlepick, your discount rate is a percentage rate that reduces the commission you pay. You earn an increased rate the more you bet on Betfair by accumulating Betfair Points.
