UEFA CL: PSG vs Manchester United Betting Preview

PSG will seek to complete the job and advance into the Quarter Finals of the Champions League as they host a depleted Manchester United team with a 2-0 lead!

PSG have completely outplayed Man Utd in the 1st leg at Old Trafford picking up a 0-2 win despite missing Neymar and Cavani. Angel Di Maria and Kylian Mbappe were the main culprits in attacks as they both put in masterful performances alongside the whole back 4 who shut United out in that meeting.

PSG have been playing some fantastic football ever since their win at Old Trafford. Since then they won 5 consecutive Domestic games while scoring 14 and conceding just 2 goals in that period. It seems like PSG are clicking both going forward and at the back right now and look pretty much in unstoppable form despite missing Neymar.

Man Utd themselves have not fallen off since losing to PSG. United returned to good form picking up 3W 1D domestically including grabbing a 0-2 at Chelsea and picking up a draw against Liverpool. United have been playing down a few key players but have been able to get results despite that.

PSG are pretty much unstoppable at Parc Des Princes which is their home ground. All together all season long they only failed to win 2 home games across all competitions winning all of their other 19 home games and doing it emphatically for the most part scoring goals for fun. The only games that PSG failed to win at home was Napoli in CL when they drew 2-2 and a shock defeat to Guingamp in the cup 1-2 who they by the way smashed 9-0 a couple weeks later. PSG have faced English opposition at home already and they beat Liverpool 2-1.

Man Utd have been absolutely incredible on their travels under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, in fact they have a 100% win percentage winning all 8 of 8 games away from home under their new manager including grabbing wins at Arsenal, Tottenham and Chelsea away. United have also had a win away at Juventus this season in Europe before Ole took over. They have definitely been a better away than home side recently which is quite a rare thing. Despite this record, it does seem likely that they will lose that 100% away win record under Solskjaer against PSG though given the circumstances.

Kylian Mbappe and Angel Di Maria are likely going to be PSG’s main danger man given how well they are playing right now. Mbappe has scored in each of his last 5 apps totalling 7 goals including bagging a goal at Old Trafford while Di Maria has 3 goals 3 assists in his last 5 apps including getting 2 assists at Old Trafford. Both of them as mentioned had great performances in the 1st leg.

With many key attackers out, Romelu Lukaku and Marcus Rashford are the main United’s danger men and will have to put in masterclass if United were to make a come back. Lukaku has hit a rich vein of form scoring 4 in his last 2 games which should give him a lot of confidence while Rashford has been enduring a 5 game goal drought, but we all know what he can do when he’s on his game and United will absolutely need him to be on his game in Paris if they want to cause problems against that tough PSG defence, with Pogba out Rashford will especially have to create a lot for United

PSG are tipped as clear bookies favourites at 1.46 to win in 90 mins with United offered as HUGE underdogs at 7.70. Draw is tipped at 4.75. PSG are pretty much certain to qualify to the next round which is why they’re just a 1.03 to advance while United are 12.00 to advance. Odds based on Unibet

Team News

PSG: Neymar continues to be out while Edinson Cavani is back in training but is questionable whether he’ll play from the start considering he’s missed quite some time and PSG have a solid lead.

Manchester United: Man Utd are very injury depleted. Sanchez, Mata, Herrera, Matic, Phil Jones, Valencia, Darmian are all out injured while star player Paul Pogba is suspended. Man Utd have brought some academy players to fill in the spaces that some key players won’t be able to fill. 2-0 down and missing so many top players definitely makes it very unlikely for United to do much in Paris.
