Bayern look to bounce back from last week’s loss to Leverkusen and return to winning ways as they host a disappointing Schalke team at the Allianz Arena.
Bayern’s title challenge took a massive dent last week as they were beaten 3-1 by Leverkusen. That loss not only put them 7 points behind league leaders but also moved them to 3rd place below Gladbach on goal difference.
Prior to the Leverkusen loss, Bayern have shown some very good form winning 7 straight in the league so for now we can really consider that as a blip and should expect Bayern to get back on track especially in a must win scenario against a struggling side.
Bayern haven’t made Allianz Arena a fortress that it normally is only winning 5 of 9 in the league, however their home form has improved lately as they won 3 straight scoring 8 goals and keeping 2 clean sheets conceding just the single one goal.
Robert Lewandowski as usual is the man to watch for Bayern. He has 12G 6A this season for the defending German champions and is probably going to get himself a goal or two here against Schalke.
Meanwhile looking at Schalke, well after finishing 2nd last season, they have completely had the opposite season this year sitting just 12th in the league having lost half of their games and with a -5 Goal difference. It’s been an awful season for Schalke.
Schalke haven’t had much success playing away either, 2 wins from 10. Although they only lost 4, the lack of winning is alarming and shows that they’ve been dropping points unnecessarily.
The really aren’t any positives to pick out from the Schalke squad this season, not very good going forward, not very good defensively. Just a very shaky season
Midfielder Daniel Caliguri is one player to watch as he’s Schalke’s top scorer with 4 this season. Yes, their top scorer only has 4 goals.
Looking at H2H, Bayern Munich are undefeated in 17 consecutives against Schalke. Bayern have won 7 of last 8 games against Schalke. They really have been dominating Schalke over the years and are expected to do it again on Saturday.
Bayern won the first meeting this season against Schalke 0-2 really dominating them and not leaving a chance throughout the whole game.
Bookies have Bayern as HUGE favourites. Bayern are tipped to win at just 1.22. Draw is 6.00 and Schalke to win is a MASSIVE 14.00. Unibet odds based.
