FA Cup: Arsenal - Manchester United Match Preview

This Friday evening, the 4th Round of the FA Cup begin and we’ve got a cracking tie as Arsenal host Manchester United at the Emirates!

We’re going to begin with the hosts. Arsenal are currently showing some very inconsistent form playing well for some games, poorly for others. Arsenal are currently coming of a 2-0 win against Chelsea last week which should definitely have boosted the team.

Arsenal have been relatively dominant at the Emirates this season only losing 2 games to Man City in the league and Spurs in the EFL Cup. They’ve won 13 and drawn 3 in the other home games.

Arsenal’s attack has been their main reason for success with the likes of Aubameyang and Lacazette being their go to finishers, but their defending has been exceptionally poor this season as they’ve been struggling to keep clean sheets massively.

Arsenal haven’t had the most success in big games as they have a 2W 2D 4L record against the BPL’s “Big 6” across league and cup competitions (they’re better in big games at the Emirates though – 2W 1D 2L.)

Manchester United meanwhile are rolling! Since Ole Gunnar Solskjaer took over they won 7 games from 7 including defeating Tottenham away from home 0-1.

Marcus Rashford and Paul Pogba have been the main danger men for United since Ole took over as Rashford has 5G 1A, Pogba 5G 4A in this run under Ole which is a combined 10 Goal 5 Assist contribution.

Man Utd have been very good going forward as well. They have scored 19 goals in their 7 games under Ole which is nearly 3 per game.

Defensively, however Man Utd have also been shaky, they really haven’t been able to keep clean sheets all season long and even when they do it’s mainly due to David de Gea being magical like against Spurs where he made 11 saves.

The first match between these sides this season was a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford when Mourinho was still in charge of Man Utd in the Premier League as Man Utd pegged Arsenal back twice. It was a cracking game of football where there could’ve easily been more goals.

Bookies currently have Arsenal as favourites at 2.46. Draw is 3.65 and Man Utd to win is 2.90. And despite Arsenal to win being the lowest odds, the team to go through that is favoured is Man Utd at 1.8 while Arsenal to go through is 1.95.
