UEFA EL: Arsenal vs BATE Borisov Betting Preview

Arsenal will seek to turn around a 0-1 deficit as they host BATE Borisov in the 2nd leg of the Europa League R32 stage.

The 1st leg was an absolute shocker as BATE stunned Arsenal in a 1-0 win back in Belarus which led to huge criticism of the Arsenal side who safe to say absolutely embarrassed themselves and not only did they lose but also star striker Lacazette got suspended and will miss this match.

Thankfully for Arsenal, there is a 2nd leg back at home and with a week off as they didn’t play during the weekend they should be well prepared for the return leg.

Arsenal are currently going through a very inconsistent run of form, their last 8 games have been WLWLWLWL.

One positive about Arsenal is their home form. At the Emirates they look like a completely different team, win quite often and tend to explode with goals which is something they’ll need to this match up with BATE. One things for sure is Arsenal could absolutely turn this around within minutes if they actually turn up and get things going.

With Lacazette out, Pierre Emerick Aubameyang will likely start and is without a doubt the man to watch as he’s Arsenal’s top scorer across all competitions.

The Belarusian side BATE Borisov themselves meanwhile are still pretty much in their pre-season form as their league season ended in December thus making them winning the 1st leg even more embarrassing for Arsenal.

For BATE, this could arguably be their greatest moment as a club if they were to knock off Arsenal and if they were to get one goal, they could seriously complicate things for the Gunners here making them have to score 3+.

BATE have been on pretty decent form in Europa League having won 3 straight games in the competition and prior to that nearly snatching a point against Chelsea with missed late great chances. They’ve shown to be no pushover in this competition.

BATE have visited England once before this season and lost 3-1 to Chelsea who are a similar level club to Arsenal.

Igor Stasevich is the man to watch, the midfielder has the competitions high 7 assists so far this season and will likely be their main source of creativity.

Expect BATE to be on the back foot throughout the whole game as they’ll likely “park the bus” and try to protect the lead.

Arsenal and BATE last met at the Emirates last season and Arsenal absolutely thumped the Belarusian side 6-0. Unai Emery would for sure love that result to occur again.

Arsenal are clear bookies favourites to win this match and to still win this tie. Arsenal to win this evening is 1.12 and to qualify is 1.28. BATE to win this evening is priced at a very high 22.00 while to qualify at 3.75. 90 min draw is tipped at 9.75. Safe to say Arsenal are expected to overcome the deficit and to thump BATE according to bookies (Odds Unibet based).

Team News

Arsenal: Alexander Lacazette is suspended after being sent off last week, Ramsey Sokratis and Ozil could all return to the side though.
