EPL: Manchester United vs Liverpool Betting Preview

Two of the fiercest rivals in English football face off at Old Trafford as top 4 chasing Man Utd will seek to put a dent in Liverpool’s title hopes who themselves seek to move back up to 1st place again.

Man Utd have bounced back quite well after losing to PSG with a 0-2 cup win at Stamford Bridge against Chelsea. Man Utd are still undefeated against English opposition under Solskjaer with a ridiculous 11W 1D 0L record against English sides under their new manager.

Man Utd are currently 4th in the Premier League, one point above 5th and 6th placed Chelsea and Arsenal who they were at one point double digit amount of points behind so many expect United to now separate away from the two London clubs.

Man Utd have been delivering in big domestic games too under their new manager, they’ve beaten Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea all away from home, but nothing would surely feel sweeter than a win against Liverpool here.

Paul Pogba has been playing absolutely out of his mind under Solskjaer having bagged 9 goals and delivered 6 assists totalling 15 goals contributions, he’s coming off a 1 goal 1 assist game against Chelsea last week so he’s surely the man to watch from the United side.

Man Utd are currently undefeated in 10 straight Premier League games at Old Trafford and have only lost one home game in total in the league thus making it one of the toughest places for opponents to come and win.

Liverpool meanwhile, despite having an opportunity to go back on top, they have not had a very good year 2019 so far having won just 3 of 8 games in all competitions (2D 2L).

Liverpool are coming off a 0-0 draw against Bayern, prior to that they also dropped points to Leicester and West Ham and in between beat Bournemouth which is their only win of last 4 games played. Their attacking played has fell off a little bit and it’s going to be key for Mane/Firmino/Salah to get going again.

Liverpool haven’t had much success in winning big away games. Other than their 1-2 win away at Tottenham, they only managed draws at Chelsea and Arsenal and lost 2-1 to Manchester City. A win at Old Trafford is definitely necessary considering the pressure is mounting more and more on Liverpool.

Sadio Mane is currently the most in form attacker for Liverpool as he’s bagged 4 goals in his last 5 games thus making him the danger man to watch alongside Salah who is their top scorer.

Liverpool defeated Man Utd 3-1 in the reverse fixture which was Jose Mourinho’s final game as Man Utd manager and a lot has change since that match up. Expect United to be FAR more competitive with Liverpool this time round.

Man Utd have dominated Liverpool at Old Trafford in recent years beating them 9 of last 12 times at home. They most recently beat Liverpool at Old Trafford last season 2-1 when Marcus Rashford bagged himself a brace.

According to bookies, Liverpool are still priced as favourites at 2.38 to win the game. United are tipped to win at 3.15 while Draw is 3.50. Odds based on Unibet.
