EPL: Manchester City vs Chelsea Betting Preview

A massive super Sunday clash as title chasing Manchester City host top 4 chasing

Chelsea in a big game for both sides!

To start off with City, well they’re right back into the title race thanks to some great form in 2019. City are currently 3 points behind Liverpool, but could return to the top with a win albeit that they would have played one more game.

This is definitely a must win for City due to the fact that they will have played an extra game compared to Liverpool so if they were to fail to win they’d be behind Liverpool and would have played more games.

Man City have been unbelievably dominant at the Etihad this season with 12W 0D 1L record which is the best in the Premier League. Other than the shocking loss to Crystal Palace, City have been smashing teams. They’ve scored 43 goals in 13 home games in the league which is over 3 a game which is absolutely insane.

Man City have the best record against the “big 6” out of all teams this season. City have been dominant against the big boys with a 5W 1D 1L record against them. They won all 3 of their home games against big 6 beating Liverpool 2-1, Man Utd 3-1 and Arsenal last week 3-1.

Sergio Aguero is currently in red hot form for City and is the player to watch here. Although he didn’t score against Everton, he did score in 4 games previously totalling 6 goals in that stretch including bagging a hattrick against Arsenal last week.

Looking at Chelsea, well they’re weird and why? Well last week summed it up when they lost 4-0 to Bournemouth and then beat Huddersfield 5-0. Inconsistency is the best way to describe the Blues season.

Chelsea are currently 5th in the league but could leapfrog Man Utd for the top 4 spot again with a win or a draw here.

Last week, we saw Gonzalo Higuain get off the mark with his first Chelsea goals as he bagged a brace in the 5-0 win over Huddersfield. It was one of the best Chelsea’s performances this season in general as everyone showed up and balled out, but truth be told it was only Huddersfield and they will have to perform even better if they want a result against City.

Chelsea’s record against the big 6 is just like their season. Inconsistent at 2W 2D 2L.

Chelsea have lost both of their big away games losing 3-1 to Spurs and 2-0 to Arsenal failing to show up really in both of these games.

The players to watch from Chelsea are obvious, Hazard and Higuain after both bagged a brace last week, expect them to be full of confidence and put in good shifts against the Champions.

Chelsea have won the reverse fixture surprisingly 2-0 against City. City did miss a few key players but Chelsea performer really well in that meeting and earned their win. Chelsea are the only big team to defeat Man City this season.

Looking at the H2H at the Etihad, it’s been very even between these clubs, the last 5 BPL meetings in this stadium resulted in 2 City wins, 2 Chelsea wins and a draw. Chelsea have decent success playing away to City.

Man City are clear cut favourites in this match tipped to win at 1.50. Chelsea are tipped at a huge 7.00 while Draw is 4.65. Unibet based odds.

Team News

Manchester City: Mendy, Kompany and Bravo are all out again for the Citizens. We saw some rotation from Pep midweek against Everton, but expect him to revert to his best line-up against Chelsea.

Chelsea: Hudson-Odoi and Gary Cahill are both questionable to be available while Antonio Rudiger is expected to return after missing last weeks match with a knee injury which led to Christensen replacing him.
