EPL: Manchester City vs Arsenal Betting Preview

A CRUCIAL game in the Premier League as title chasing Manchester City host top 4 chasing Arsenal in what is a must win game for both sides at the Etihad

Manchester City are coming off a frustrating loss in midweek against Newcastle however Liverpool dropping points means that loss haven’t affected them too much as they’re just 5 points behind the league leaders entering Sunday.

That loss aside, Man City have been extremely dominant in 2019 winning all of their other 7 games scoring a ridiculous 30 goals during that run prior to the Newcastle game.

Man City have been particularly dominant at the Etihad where they’ve been pretty much unbeatable. Bar the lost to the Crystal Palace, City have won all of their other 11 league games at the Etihad and have totalled 40 goals at home already this season!

To further prove City’s dominance at the Etihad, ever since Roberto Firmino scored against them, City have scored 25 goals without conceding at Home!

Both Man City strikers in Gabriel Jesus and Sergio Aguero have been showing some strong form in recent games with Jesus bagging 8 goals in his last 6 apps and Aguero bagging at least 1 goal in 3 consecutive apps for Man City.

Man City have also defended extremely well so far in 2019 keeping 6 clean sheets in 8 games across all competitions, 3 of those coming against Premier League clubs.

Man City have been relatively strong against the big 6 this season beating Man Utd 3-1, Liverpool 2-1, Spurs away from home 0-1, Arsenal away 0-2 while drawing Liverpool 0-0 away from home and losing to Chelsea 2-0 away. 4W 1D 1L against the big 6 is definitely impressive.

Arsenal meanwhile are currently enduring a very up and down period, after Chelsea’s win they’ve fallen back down to 5th and are kind of a need of a result coming to the Etihad where they haven’t had much success lately.

Arsenal have particularly struggled away from home lately failing to win 5 consecutive away games drawing 2, losing 3 which is a total of 2 points picked up from last 15 away from home and that is just not the record you want if you’re Arsenal coming to the Etihad.

One thing that Arsenal fans can look forward to is their striker duo in Aubameyang and Lacazette linking up as they’ve both hit some very strong form recently. Both scored in their last match against Cardiff in a 2-1 win at Home.

Arsenal’s biggest worry coming into this game as it’s been absolutely shambolic and not only that they’re missing some key defenders due to injuries. Arsenal are yet to keep an away clean sheet and on average have been conceding 2 away goals per game. Not a record you want coming up against Man City for sure.

Arsenal have a poor record in big games this season. Away from home they’ve been awful losing 5-1 to Liverpool, 3-2 to Chelsea and drawing what then was Mourinho’s Man Utd 2-2. They had better luck at the Emirates beating Chelsea 2-0 and Spurs 4-2 but lost to Man City 0-2 while also losing to Spurs 0-2 and Man Utd 1-3 in the cups so the record is definitely not too good for them in big games. 2W 1D 5L

Man City have been owning Arsenal in recent meetings dating back to last season City beat them all 4 times (3-1 0-3 0-3 0-2). Most recent was 0-2 at the Emirates where City completely outclassed the Gunners.

Man City have beat Arsenal in 3 of last 5 games at Home (1D 1L) and have put 13 goals past them in these games at the Etihad. City-Arsenal games tend to be very high scoring in Manchester.

Man City are massive favourites for this game. At Unibet the odds on City to win are just 1.31, draw is 6.40 and Arsenal to win is 9.50. Not often you see this type of discrepancy in odds between two big sides.

Team News

Manchester City: Man City could miss their main goalkeeper Ederson and with Claudio Bravo out injured too, they may have to settle with one of their young keepers for this game, preferably Aro Muric. Benjamin Mendy and Vincent Kompany are both expected to be out for this game.

Arsenal: Bellerin is out for the season while Rob Holding and Sokratis are both out for Arsenal, however Laurent Koscielny has returned to training and could be back for the Gunners, despite that they’re definitely going to be short at the back and Emery will have to work his magic there. Henrikh Mkhitaryan and Ainsley Maitland-Niles are both doubts while Danny Welbeck is out for the season for Arsenal.
