EPL: Liverpool vs Huddersfield Town Betting Preview

Liverpool’s title chase continues as they take on the already relegated Huddersfield at Anfield in a must win game.

Looking at the table, this looks like a game that Liverpool will breeze by. Liverpool are currently 2nd but are just one point away from league leaders Man City with 3 games to go meaning they’re still within a shot to lift the trophy come end of the season while Huddersfield are rock bottom in the table with just 14 total points and have been relegated for weeks now.

Furthermore, the level of difference between teams can easily be summed up by their goals scored and conceded. Liverpool are the 2nd best scoring wise with 79 goals and have the best defensive record conceding 20 goals while Huddersfield have scored the least amount of goals with 20 and have conceded the 2nd most with 69 only better than Fulham. This could very well be one of those fixtures where Liverpool absolutely batter their opponents and grab the crucial 3 points.

Liverpool are on sensational form right now unbeaten in 18 straight and having won each of their last 9 games scoring 24 goals in the win streak the title challengers are probably playing their best football of the season right now and even despite that they have not been able to separate away from Manchester City in the table due to the fact that the leaders themselves have been just as consistent however any slippage by their title rivals and Liverpool could go back on top as long as they keep this form up.

Huddersfield are on horrific run of form. Ever since December, they have picked up just 4 points from 22 games losing 20 of them which pretty much sums up the quality of their team which is clearly not Premier League level as they simply continue to lose week in week out. Huddersfield have lost all of their last 7 games conceding tons of goals in the process (19) and when it comes to playing the big 6 sides they have lost all 10 games conceding 30 goals so entering this game there is little to no hope that they can do something to challenge Liverpool.

Liverpool have been beyond amazing at Anfield this season with just one total defeat across all competitions and no defeats in the Premier League (15W 2D) and dating back to the past couple of years they’ve not lost here for 38 straight league games. They’ve made Anfield a fortress and have very rarely failed to win games all year. Furthermore, they have the best defensive record with 10 goals conceded and 10 clean sheets kept here.

Huddersfield are god awful away from home but that’s no surprise considering they’ve been awful overall. Just 6 points and a 1W 3D 13L record. Furthermore, they have lost 10 of their last 11 away games picking up just 1 from last 33 available points on their travels. There really is nothing else to add to that, Huddersfield are just a very poor side in the Premier League.

Players to watch for Liverpool are Mane and Salah. Both have equally been scoring this season with Mane bagging 18 goals and Salah 19 in the Premier League and both are showing very good form at the moment, especially Mane who has 10 goals in his last 13 apps while Salah has started to return to form lately scoring 3 in last 5. Don’t be surprised to see both of them to get on the scoresheet here.

As for Huddersfield, they don’t have many threatening players but their new signing from Charlton in January, Karl Ahearne-Grant has been pretty good for them having scored 4 goals in 10 apps since and is actually their top scorer in the league which pretty much tells everything about them when their top scorer is someone that joined the club in the middle of the season. He scored last week against Watford.

Liverpool and Huddersfield met each other 3 times in the Premier League and Liverpool won all 3 matches keeping 3 clean sheets (3-0, 0-3, 0-1). Liverpool beat them 0-1 this season away from home when Mo Salah struck the winner to earn them the 3 points in what was a relatively tough game and tougher than Liverpool may have expected but nevertheless they got the job done.

To no surprise, Liverpool are MAJOR favourites tipped to win at a measly 1.07 odds whereas Huddersfield are a massive long shot at 41.00 with Draw also being a big long shot at 15.00. Considering how much better Liverpool are this is no surprise and anything other than a multiple goal win for the hosts would be a surprise. The odds are based on Unibet.
