Coupe De France: Final – Rennes vs PSG Betting Preview

The Coupe De France Final is here and we have the top team in France PSG look to complete the double as they take on Rennes

With a win PSG would make this their 5th straight Coupe De France title as they have just completely dominated French football over the years. They were currently 4 time defending cup champions entering this Final.

PSG’s road to the Final has been relatively straight forward they beat Pontivy 0-4, Strasbourg 2-0, Villefranche 0-3 (although did need ET), Dijon 3-0 and Nantes 3-0. Without a conceded goal yet and with 15 goals scored in 5 games, they have been taking teams apart in the competition so far.

As for Rennes, they have had a tougher run. They were taken to Pens by Brest in the 1st round which they won, then they beat Saint-Pryve 0-2, Lille 2-1, Orleans 2-0 and they beat Lyon 2-3. Having beaten 2 of the top 3 teams in Ligue 1, Rennes have definitely had a tough road and done very well to reach the Final and now will seek to make it 3 out of 3 as they will look to upset PSG.

PSG have been recently slacking on form having just gone through a stretch where they went winless in 3 having lost 2 of those games including a 5-1 loss to Lille. However, PSG have been rotating their side and have had little to no motivation in these games given that they have secured the league title which shouldn’t be the case here as it’s a cup final thus we should expect a fully motivated PSG side. PSG did bounce back from that poor stretch as well with a 3-1 win against Monaco last week.

Rennes are entering this game on bad form. Since beating Lyon in the Cup Semi Final, they have gone winless in 4 straight picking up 2 pts from 12 in the league (2D 2L) and are coming off a 3-2 loss to relegation threatened Dijon last week. However, you could also make a case for Rennes not playing with much motivation lately since they’re not playing for anything in the league anymore either.

The player to watch for PSG is of course Kylian Mbappe. 36 goals now this season overall, became the youngest to score 30 in a single Ligue 1 season and is coming off a wonderful performance against Monaco where he scored a hattrick. Kylian has been pretty much scoring in every game for PSG this season and expect him to do so again here.

M’Baye Niang is the player to watch for Rennes. He’s been in great form lately having scored 6 goals in his last 8 apps for the club and got on the scoresheet last week against Dijon.

PSG have won 11 of last 12 H2H meetings against Rennes and have comfortably beat them both times this season with a 1-3 away win and a 4-1 win at home. Clearly not a fixture that Rennes have enjoyed much lately and the record definitely doesn’t do them any favours coming into the Final against PSG.

PSG are HUGE favourites to win in 90 mins offered at 1.20 whereas Rennes are a long shot underdog at 10.00 with Draw offered at 7.00. Despite it being a Final, PSG are clearly the far superior side and it’ll take a lot of things to go right for Rennes if they want to win here. Anything other than a PSG win would be a shocking result. Odds are based on Unibet.

Team News

Rennes: Ramy Bensebaini could return from injury as he’s not featured since the win against Lyon. They don’t have any other serious injury concerns.

PSG: Marco Verratti and Thiago Silva are doubts, however Neymar is available and could make his first start since his injury.
