Euroleague: Quarter Finals Game 2 – 19th April 2019 Preview



The Euroleague Playoffs continue as the other two Game 2s of the Quarter Finals are set to be played as Efes host Barcelona and Real Madrid host Panathinaikos with both hosting teams seeking to extend their series lead to 2-0.


Anadolu Efes vs Barcelona


After a solid Game 1 display and a 75-68 win, Efes will seek to move 2-0 ahead and protect the home court as they host Barcelona again 


Totals


Efes have covered 50% of their total point overs at home in the Euroleague this season (8-8) though lately they’ve been more under-ish with 6 home Unders from last 8 games. The total for this game is 156.5 points which is a total that Efes haven’t had at home this season, however the closest that they’ve had to that total was a 155.5 point total against Barcelona actually back in the Regular Season which ended with an Over as Efes won 92-70.


Barcelona have also covered 50% of their total point overs on the road this season (8-8). They’ve not had a 156.5 point total on the road this season, however they have had a very close 156 point total once which was against Olympiakos and that resulted in an Under as Barcelona won 55-76.


Handicaps


Efes are by far the best team in the Euroleague at covering Handicaps at home at an unreal 93.8% (15-1) yes only failing to cover it ONCE which was their opening home game of the season against Zalgiris so Efes have currently covered 15 straight Handicaps at home in the Euroleague. Efes are given a -4 Handicap which is a Handicap they’ve not had at home this season, however the closest that they’ve had to that was a -3.5 Handicap against Baskonia covering it in a 96-85 win and they had a -4.5 Handicap twice which was actually against Barcelona in Game 1 of the Playoffs and they of course covered that winning 75-68 and against Olympiakos as well also covering it in a 75-65 win.


Barcelona have covered 43.8% of their Handicaps on the road in the Euroleague this season (7-9). They’ve not had a +4 Road Handicap this season, however they did have a very close +4.5 Handicap twice which was against Panathinaikos which they failed to cover in a 76-70 loss and of course against Efes in Game 1 of the Playoffs which they also failed to cover losing 75-68. Barca also had a very close +3.5 Handicap twice on the road against Zalgiris which they covered in a 85-88 win and against Maccabi which they failed to cover losing 99-83.


Recent H2H in Istanbul


Efes have been good at protecting home court against Barcelona recently winning 3 of last 4 against them at home and going 2-0 against them in Istanbul this year beating them 92-70 in Regular Season and 75-68 in the Game 1 of the Playoffs.


During the Game 1 of the Playoffs, Efes covered a -4.5 Handicap while total 158 points resulted with an Under as the teams only totalled 143 points.


Injury Report


Anadolu Efes: Brock Motum and Metecan Birsen are both unlikely to play however everyone else are available.


Barcelona: Kevin Seraphin remains the only player out for Barcelona for Game 2.

Real Madrid vs Panathinaikos


After a very heart breaking loss in Game 1 for Panathinaikos blowing a late 6 point lead losing the game 75-72 thanks to a run 9-0 by Real Madrid to finish the game, the Greek side have another shot at stealing a game from Madrid in hopes of tying the series and taking home court advantage against the defending champions 


Totals


Real Madrid have covered 62.5% of their total point overs at home in the Euroleague this season (10-6) which is 3rd best in the Euroleague. The total for this game is 159.5 points which is a total that Madrid haven’t had at home this season, however they have had a very close 159 point total once at home this season against Fenerbache which did result with an Over as Real Madrid won 101-86.


Panathinaikos have only covered 31.2% of their total point overs on the road this season which is the worst percentage in the Euroleague (5-1-10). They haven’t had a 159.5 point total either on the road this season, but the closest that they’ve had to that was a 158.5 point total at Darussafaka which resulted with an Under as Panathinaikos won 67-91 and they had a 160.5 point total against Baskonia which ended with an Over as Panathinaikos lost 86-77.


Handicaps


Real Madrid have covered 62.5% of their Handicaps at home in the Euroleague this season which is 2nd best in the competition (10-6). Madrid are given a -6 Handicap for this game which is Handicap that they’ve not had at home this season, however they did have a very close -6.5 Handicap against Baskonia and they covered that in a 97-79 win.


Panathinaikos have covered just 31.2% of their Handicaps on the road this season (5-11), however they have covered each of their last 5 after failing to cover their first 11 road Handicaps so right now they’re actually very good at covering them despite a poor overall percentage. Panathinaikos haven’t had a +6 road Handicap this season, but did have a very close +6.5 Handicap once against Barcelona and they didn’t cover it losing the game 79-68.


Recent H2H in Madrid


Real Madrid are holding a 7 game winning streak against Panathinaikos at home currently and have beat them both times this season in Madrid beating them 89-68 in the Regular Season and 75-72 in Game 1 of the Playoffs.


During the Game 1, Real Madrid may have won, but Panathinaikos did cover their +7 given Handicap as they only lost by 3 meanwhile total 162 points resulted with an Under as the teams totalled 147 points in that meeting.


Injury Report


Real Madrid: Sergio Llull is likely to be out for Game 2 and may miss even more time, meanwhile everyone else are healthy.


Panathinaikos: Panathinaikos will only be missing Nikos Pappas who is out for the season with a Torn ACL.
