Tottenham Hotspurs Team Preview

Tottenham Hotspur

The quietest team throughout the whole summer. Tottenham have made no summer signings this year at all, not one player have joined the club as Tottenham spent exactly £0. Mauricio Pochettino has said that he is happy with the current group and Spurs fans will simply be hoping that as a team they simply grow, especially Kane and Alli as they are still very young and after a good world cup, maybe these players will grow up now. Tottenham’s biggest issue is they haven’t really learned to win yet. They seem to come close in cups, league a couple of times, UCL but then they falter towards the end of games or the season as in 2016 BPL campaign. Last year, Tottenham did slightly fall off in the league but the dominance of Man City was like none other they faced before although Chelsea 16-17 was similar but Spurs did manage to keep up with them to some extent. Maybe having Alderweireld hurt for a lot of the season, Dembele hurt for some of the season and Kane out for a couple of months did affect Spurs and having everyone healthy again could help them get back to title contention, but you do gotta ask, what if this is how far they can go? What if they have peaked and with teams around them other Man Utd improving you’d have to say it may be a very tough season for Tottenham. Dele Alli must have a better season this year too after falling off a little last season which could be another factor why they dipped a little. Consistency and health is going to be key for Tottenham and they MUST show up in the big games, especially away as Pochettino has a terrible away record against the big 6. With a healthy squad, Tottenham will be dangerous but if their mental strength doesn’t improve it will be another what if season for the Spurs. Expect another 25-30 goal season for Kane, but winning the league for Tottenham seems an impossible task considering that they finished 25 points behind the league champions who have gotten even stronger while Spurs are at stand still. Expect a top 4 battle for Spurs.
