Leicester City Team Preview

Leicester City

It’s going to be a campaign full of uncertainty for the 2016 champions. With Riyad Mahrez gone, Leicester have brought in another Algerian winger Rachid Ghezzal in hopes that he can replicate the success of Mahrez, however no one really know how he fares in the Premier League and with that uncertainty, it could be a very tough season for the foxes. After a very sloppy end to last season and fans calling for the managers head, Claude Puel is still in charge of the club, however it is essential his team gets off to a strong start otherwise it could be very likely that Claude could be the first manager sacked in the Premier League if Leicester start sloppy and we’ve already seen how quickly Leicester tend to get rid of managers just look at Ranieri and Shakespeare. Leicester’s main man this year is going to be as usual Jamie Vardy after banging 20 goals last season and scoring past every top 6 team, Leicester fans will expect Vardy to continue his goal scoring form. Also young players such as Demarai Gray and Kelechi Iheanacho must start playing consistent good football because as we know, they are very talented and could get more game time this year and if they can get it together, these two could really help Leicester with getting a higher finish.

In terms of transfer window, as mentioned Leicester signed Rachid Ghezzal. But also they signed a very talented young midfielder in James Maddison and a couple of decent defenders in Jonny Evans and Ricardo Pereira and that will help them strengthen their CB and RB depth as Leicester really needed to after being terrible defensively conceding an enormous number of 60 goals in the previous campaign. And of course it was crucial for Leicester that Harry Maguire ended up staying after rumours of going to Man Utd. Keeping the English international was crucial for Leicester as he has been very good for them and with a good world cup under his belt expect him to be even better. Hopefully the new additions and keeping Maguire for another will help Leicester improve their defensive problems. Losing Mahrez was huge as mentioned, but they do have a good enough squad to be a mid table team, maybe even higher.
