Cardiff City Team Preview

Cardiff

Cardiff City have returned to the Barclays Premier League after an unsuccessful run the first time in 2013-14 when they got relegated. Cardiff are coming into this season hardly strengthening their squad, they made 4 signings from the Championship and a couple late transfer window signing getting Camarasa and Harry Arter on loan but it’s hard to predict anything with these two coming in, don’t sound the most promising of additions. Otherwise Cardiff kept everyone around from last season. The key signing would have to be former Bristol City striker Bobby Reid who scored 21 goals in the Championship last season. Other than that it’s been a very quiet window for Cardiff and they are a huge question mark on whether they can stay up. They have a Championship squad from last season and these players will have to adapt to the higher league otherwise it will be another straight back down relegation to Cardiff. Cardiff came to the Premier League by securing last day promotion, they got a bit of luck because Fulham lost their last game and a draw on the last day was enough for Cardiff to clinch automatic promotion. They got promoted by playing well organised football at the back. They weren’t a crazy goal scoring side, their organisation was the biggest key in getting promoted. There will be a lot of question marks surrounding Cardiff as many have them as a relegation candidate. If their players can’t adapt to the higher league then it’s going to be a long season for Neil Warnock’s men. Their manager Neil Warnock has now clinched 8 promotions but has never kept his teams up in the Premier League and this could be his final chance to change that. Interesting season ahead for Cardiff as hard work is the only way they can potentially stay up because talent wise they’re probably the worst.
