Team News

Manchester United: Rashford is still suspended for United while Matic is back in contention however he is not expected to start due to it being a cup tie and there’s a bigger game in the league this weekend. Rojo and Herrera are both doubts. We can expect Jose to rotate his side for this match given that it’s a Carabao Cup match at home against lower league opposition. Don’t expect the likes of Pogba, Lukaku, Alexis to start here. However, Jose should still be able to field a strong line-up with the likes of Mata, Martial, Pereira, Ashley Young getting a chance to start. We should expect the new signing Dalot to start after making an impression last week away at BSC Young Boys at RB.

Derby County: Other than Tom Lawrence being suspended, Derby have no absentees and Lampard can field the strongest string 11 apart from his suspended winger. There is a possibility that Frank may want to go for this because this is his first ever opportunity to face a big club on a managerial level and he will for sure want to beat Jose Mourinho. However, there’s also a possibility that he may rest some key players to focus on chasing promotion in the Championship which is going okay right now with Derby 6th. We’d like to think that Lampard is going to go all out for it however and one player to watch from Derby is talented midfielder Mason Mount who has been in great form. The man who belongs to Chelsea will seek to impress his parent club as he takes field at Old Trafford, if Frank indeed decides to with a strong 11. This is not a bad time for Derby to face United who’ve been up and down.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Bookies have United as massively favourites which is understandable but we wouldn’t like to think that they will wash Derby out of their way easily. Derby can definitely give United a game and could potentially pull off a shock which is unlikely but possible. United will definitely be with a rotated line-up and that should only benefit Derby. Plus, it’s not like United are smashing teams this season, bar the Young Boys game they’ve had a lot of tough matches this season and have crumbled quite a few times already (draw with Wolves most recently). Derby +2 AH at 1.75 is definitely worth the look, also BTTS at 2.15 is quite likely too. Derby can definitely score at OT because United haven’t kept one clean sheet here so far and their backline is expected to be 2nd string without de Gea. We predict a 2-1 United win, but it for sure won’t be easy for Jose’s men.
