Valencia vs Juventus

UCL 2018-19 – Valencia vs Juventus Match Preview

The new era at Juventus begins in European football as Ronaldo plays his first European match in Juventus colours against an opponent that he’s very familiar in Valencia. Valencia have started the season very sloppily being winless, meanwhile Juventus have 4 wins out of 4 and Ronaldo hit his first 2 goals in the new colours this weekend therefore the club is on a high for sure right now. Can Valencia crash the party for Juventus or will Juve led by UCL GOAT prove to be too much?

Key Facts

Valencia are currently winless in La Liga and sit very low in the 17th place. That is near relegation! Valencia have a record of 0W 3D 1L.

Valencia have only scored 3 goals this season in 4 games. They went goalless in two games already.

Rodrigo is a rare in form player currently in the Valencia side after scoring 2 goals on international break for Spain.

Valencia nearly average 3 yellow cards per game. Frustrating start to the season has definitely been a factor

Valencia have only kept one clean sheet in La Liga in 4 games.

Juventus are currently rolling with 100% win record and are top of the league. 4W 0D 0L

Juventus have scored 9 goals in the first 4 games which is just over 2 on average.

Ronaldo and Mandzukic are tied top scorers for Juventus with 2 goals each. Ronaldo just scored his first 2 during the recent weekend so he’s hit form at the right time.

Cristiano Ronaldo has hit double figures in scoring in UCL for 7 straight seasons! 10 12 17 10 16 12 15 goals scored in those seasons. His competition.

Juventus have surprisingly been suspect defensively. Conceded 4 in 4 games and only kept one clean sheet which is very unlike Juventus.

Team News

Valencia: Valencia do have some injury news. Firstly, Kondogbia is doubtful to start after picking up an injury against Real Betis. Coquelin is also still out and Garay is expected to be out for this match too. With Kondogbia hurt against Betis, the player that came on for him was Daniel Wass therefore he’ll probably start in Kondogbia’s place for this match against Juve. Losing Kondogbia in midfield is a huge blow for Valencia especially given their form already being poor. Elsewhere it’s a healthy Valencia side, we could see Guedes come in for Cheryshev but that’s about it when it comes to team changes. A win could turn out to be massive for Valencia’s confidence, a loss would just be another bad result. Going forward they need to find a way to score since they’ve struggled and players like Rodrigo, Gameiro, Guedes, Cheryshev, Batshuayi need to start performing on club level.

Juventus: No serious injuries to report in the Juventus side but we could see one or two changes. Pjanic will most likely take the starting job from Emre Can again after being sat during the weekend against Sassuolo. We shouldn’t expect Douglas Costa to feature after the spitting incident against Sassuolo therefore Dybala Ronaldo Mandzukic front 3 will stay intact. That’s pretty much it for team news. Juve can field the strongest 11 possible which is great news for them and they should realistically win this match if they get it right. They must sort it out defensively as they are much better in that aspect than they’ve been all season. Going forward there’s no worries. Ronaldo Dybala Mandzukic are going to be a nightmare to defend to Valencia.

Betting Tips and Predictions

One of those games where it’s just better to leave it if we’re being honest. League form goes out the way for matches like this. Valencia will be fired up to be back at Mestalla to play a Champions League match especially against one of the favourites in Juventus but its still quite doubtful whether they’ll get something out of it. This game looks to be a tactical battle which could mean an under goals. Although Juve have been sloppy defensively this season, we expect that backline to sure up now that they have a big game. Valencia’s attacking struggles also contribute to the fact that Juve have a good chance at keeping a CS. Juventus themselves are not expected to put on a goal fest. At most they’ll probably get two. This is one of those games where backing a winner is dangerous and backing a goals total is dangerous too, but if we were to back a winner it’s Juventus to come out with a narrow 0-1 win because at the end of the day they are playing better and have a fully healthy side while Valencia have key absentees. Ronaldo to score anytime. Always does it in UCL.
