Hoffenheim vs Dortmund

Bundesliga 2018-19 – Hoffenheim vs Dortmund BETTING PREVIEW

Arguably, the biggest Bundesliga game of the weekend. Hoffenheim host Dortmund. While Hoffenheim have started the season slow, Dortmund have gotten off to a good start however Hoffenheim are at home and they rarely lose here nowadays so this is expected to be an absolute cracker between two of the top Bundesliga sides!

Key Facts

Since the start of the 2016-17 season, Hoffenheim have only lost 2 home league games. 23W 10D 2L

Hoffenheim have started this season quite slow with 2 losses out of 3 but they have won their only home game against Freiburg 3-1. They also drew away at Shakhtar in UCL 2-2.

All 5 Hoffenheim games had over 2.5 goals in all competitions this season including UCL and DFB Pokal. 4 Of those had an over 3.5.

Szalai is the current league top scorer for Hoffenheim as he’s scored 3 Bundesliga goals.

4 of the previous 5 meetings between these sides when Hoffenheim are hosts have ended in a draw. Hoffenheim did win the most recent one 3-1 last season.

Dortmund have started this season very well with 2W 1D and sit in top 4. However their away woes have continued as their only droppage of points was away at Hannover.

Dortmund have only won 6 of their last 18 away Bundesliga matches.

Although Dortmund have already scored 7 Bundesliga goals, no one scored more than 1 meaning they already have had 7 different goal scorers in the league.

2 of 5 Dortmund games in all competitions had an over 3.5 however the other 3 had an under 2.5. The over games were at home, all the under games were away.

Team News:

Hoffenheim: There are no new injury news to report from Hoffenheim. We shouldn’t expect many changes if any at all from the team that draw against Shakhtar. It’s a big game and we just cant see Nagelsmann making any drastic changes. Szalai is the danger man here as he’s shown fantastic goal scoring form so far.

Dortmund: Paco Alcacer picked up an injury last week and could be out for this match. Also Toprak, Larsen, Delaney and Guerreiro are all expected to be out. However, everyone else is fit to go. We can expect the English wonderkid Sancho to feature in this match after making a fantastic impression in recent matches. Also, Pulisic could be in contention to start after scoring the winner at Club Brugge. Don’t expect that many changes from Dortmund either though. Favre will most likely keep the same line-up as its been working out well recently.

Betting Tips and Predictions

Many people see this as a Dortmund win which is understandable but we look at it differently. Sure, Hoffenheim have made a slow start but lets look at who they played. They lost to Bayern away 3-1 which is no shame, they could’ve got a point out of that actually as they kept it at 1-1 until the 80th minute. They beat Freiburg in their only home game 3-1, lost to Dusseldorf and picked up an impressive away point at Shakhtar where teams like Man City and Napoli crumbled before. Other than the Dusseldorf defeat, Hoffenheim haven’t really looked bad at all. Hoffenheim should be able to avoid a defeat here and actually we’d tip them as favourites to win. Dortmund’s start to the season is impressive, but their best displays are at home. They nearly got beat by lower league’s Furth, drew with Hannover and just about snatched a win at Club Brugge which isn’t all that impressive. Goals bets don’t really seem to make sense here since over 2.5 and BTTS are both very low so we’ll just back a Hoffenheim 0.0 AH at 1.90. They won’t lose this match, in case of a draw money’s back but we reckon they will win this match 2-1. Szalai to score anytime is worth a try, he’s been banging them in this season.
