Here the mathematics is such that the French can get by with draws, but the Dutch representatives need to win by three goals. There is a scenario where the English won't let Wales qualify, but I doubt that the Dutch themselves believe it, because the English need to beat Peru and they won't hold back. Wales is clearly the weakest team in the group. So the Netherlands will have to attack from the start, it's not clear if it's possible to employ a defensive tactic and wait for opportunities, but one goal won't be enough, so they'll have to take risks. They can score, as we saw the French defense is not perfect, both in the World Cup and in friendly matches against Brazil, but the Dutch defense has its own issues that the English have exposed. The French are not much worse in that aspect and I don't think they'll sit back and defend, it's not their style and there are many opportunities for risk. It will make life easier if there are chances and the will to take them. In short, I believe that under these circumstances, the football will be open for the entire 90+ minutes, both teams know how to score and it's harder to defend, so at least a few goals don't seem like an impossibility.
