Kovalik is a pretty good groundstroke player, as he proved by defeating Giron 3-1. However, the favorite for the match is clearly the Russian, but in the beginning of the tournament it is always difficult to dominate, especially when the Slovakian looks very good. I believe that the third set showed that Khachanov is vulnerable, so I think we can trust Kovalik in this match.
