ITF Men's Calabasas Series, California

18:00 Simon Tobias - Nava Emilio

I have already written about Nava Emilio that he is one of the best juniors in the world. Last year he played the US Open for juniors, and this year he played AO singles finals where he lost dramatically in the third set in tiebreak 14-12 and finals of AO doubles. Previous tournament where Nava played last match just 3 days ago is located in Arcadia just 50km from his hometown Woodland Hills, and this tournament is located 10km away from Woodland Hills, which is interesting that this tournament take place exactly on courts where Nava spent most of his time, grow up and did most trainings. He will have even more support from the previous tournament and even more confidence. He will be eager to prove that he is aiming for victory because this tournament ends the tour of the ITF tournaments in California, of course he wants to use the opportunity to prove himself in front of his audience and on his courts.

I do not doubt his quality, he played a good tournament last week and reach SF where he lost from talented younger player Bellier, unlike when in the first three matches his first service worked perfectly, he lost only 3-4 points overall in the first service and put more than 92 % in the average of the second service . That was no case in the semifinal when he barely scored 42% of the first service and I think that’s the biggest reason he could not provide a solid game during this semi-final.

Nava said: "I grew up literally in a tennis family, both of my brothers grew up playing tennis, being the youngest I looked up to them. I wanted to be like them, and I wanted them to pay attention to me. My grandfather is the one who started tennis in our family, I love tennis and adrenaline coming from it. I hope that I will not disappoint my family and take the opportunity to show the best light on these courts where it feels like at home.

Simon Tobias, after an unsuccessful season last year and shifting from ITF to the Challenger level when he barely passed the qualifications of the 3-4 tournaments, again this year returned to futures level where he continues to find his form, because his biggest success is second round on ITF level this season, He comes from ITF tournament that take place in California at Bakersfield last week just 180km from the current tournament, but went out there in another round. In the first round, he struggled against a player who came as LL in the tournament and lost the first set with 0-6, his opponent had a MP but he did not know how to use it, so Simone was punished and psychically received a game in the tiebreak ,after that he won deceding third set. He dropped into the second round of the Kirchheimer, player who was currently unranked on the list and he had never played an official match at the challenger level. He lost in two sets against him, so he made 9 double faults, scored 55% of the first service and won a miserable 33% on the second service .

I think Nava is more focused on this tournament, he has more confidence because he plays on the courts where he spent most of his training time and the desire to prove himself will be even bigger.
