Hello.
Euroleague. Barcelona vs. Valencia. We are going with a plus handicap for Valencia.
Valencia looks amazing at the start of the season. They won the Spanish Cup (defeating Unicaja and Real), both Euroleague matches were won and they also opened their ACB league campaign with a win against Barcelona. The team seems to be on top form. While there may not be any miraculous players, the team looks good as a whole. It also helps that half of the Spanish national team is made up of Valencia players, so they know how to play together already. Young De Larrea looks really good, and one of their nominal team leaders Montero is back, along with a solid role player Xabi Lopez-Arostegui. Many players seem likeable on this team. They have also found a place for Thompson, who has been struggling for a few seasons, and Moore has been playing amazingly so far, while Taylor is slowly getting into form.
Barcelona's summer signings don't impress me. Signing old players Shengelia and Clyburn. Although the latter had a surprisingly good Euroleague season. They also have Punter and other veterans, but overall the lineup doesn't seem inspiring. On top of all that, in their win against Pao, Barcelona lost Lapro for three weeks. I think this will be felt, as he does everything for the team - creates for his teammates and scores at a high percentage (especially 3-pointers). Satoransky is not as dangerous from outside, so it's possible to take a risk with him, and the tall players at Barca don't seem impressive. Punter and Clyburn might not be enough for them here. Of course, home court advantage will help, but the plus handicap is quite big and I think Valencia can cover it.
Barca will want revenge and it would have been better to bet on them if they had won during the weekend, but the handicap seems too big to me and it can be covered even with a loss. Riskier bettors might try with Valencia winning. Good luck.
