Hello.
Euroleague. ASVEL against Valencia. We are traveling with the visiting team from Peru.
Valencia seems like a very likable team this year. Although they don't have any big stars and they lost their long-time point guard Chris Jones, the team seems well put together and performing well. They won the Supercopa against both Unicaja and Real and winning a trophy brings optimism. Even without Montero and Xabi Lopez-Arostegui, the team still looks very good. Youngster De Larrea looks very promising, both in Valencia and in Eurobasket. Moore also seems to have settled in and I think Thompson will be better than he was in Efes. Let's remember how he looked in Baskonia, I think Spanish basketball suits him better. Taylor also looked good in the games I saw in the cup, so this player also intrigues me, and additions like Sako or Costello bring optimism. Overall, I think Valencia is a bit underestimated this year and will give many teams a run for their money here.
ASVEL is a completely different story for me. They lost Maledon who went to Real and was their main engine. They signed Glynn Watson and Heurtel (who is currently injured), so the guards don't seem convincing. De Colo's level is still declining so I don't expect any miracles from him. Overall, the team is not very inspiring and the only interesting player for me is Seljaas. Playing at home might help, but Valencia is a much stronger team even without Montero.
The odds are good and dropping, so we should take advantage before they're completely gone. Good luck.
