Hello.
Eurobasket semi-final. Greece against Turkey. We are facing the Greek team. They appear to be solid in both offense and defense. Even against Lithuania, they managed to secure a confident win with a not-so-great percentage and despite having Giannis somewhat contained. As Spanoulis himself said, this team is well built around Giannis. If you pressure him, he can dish out to good shooters like Dorsey, Sloukas, or Toliopoulos. In defense, the younger brother Kostas also looks strong, as well as Kalaitzakis who doesn't spoil the view. Tall players like Mitoglou or Papanikolaou can also make shots, so there aren't many potential risks. Personally, no one will stop Giannis in a 1v1 situation, so we can't be naive, and I think there will be opportunities for our shooters.
Turkey also looks strong and they haven't stumbled yet in the tournament. However, they struggled a bit against Sweden, and the game against Poland was played fairly easily. But their opponents until this stage were also relatively easy in the knockouts. Now they will face a strong opponent and it could be a bit unexpected for them, as they were probably expecting their only competition in the final to be Germany. Sengun is definitely a good player, but today he will have Giannis against him. We'll see how he handles that. A lot of the team's success will also depend on Larkin, who is a player who performs according to his mood. If it's a bad day for him, the team will struggle (we saw this against Sweden). Osman seems to have not suffered a serious injury as he returned in the match against Poland, but there may still be some discomfort, which could also be a factor.
All in all, it seems like an evenly matched game, but Greece has a better defense, which is why I'm rooting for them. Plus, the odds are tempting. Good luck.
