In the previous stage, Osaka defeated Samsonova, but had a hard time: she lost the first set and barely saved the second after a tiebreak. The quality of the Japanese player's game was not at its highest. When facing Ostapenko's sharp and aggressive attacks, Naomi won't have any chances to counter.
