In the previous round, Osaka managed to defeat Samsonova, but she had a difficult time doing so: she lost the first set and barely saved the second one in a tie break. The quality of Japanese play was not at its best. Playing against the sharp and aggressive attacker Ostapenko, Naomi will have no chances to counterattack. If the Latvians can just hit as well as they did in the previous match against Zarazua, the Japanese player will have a lot of trouble.
