Vilius Gaubas plays very good tennis and his level only continues to grow with each tournament. He is very strong psychologically and can quickly come back after losing a break. I would say that Boyer, his previous opponent from Ghana, was serious competition for Gaubas. He had decent technique, good serves, and movement, but even though he was able to break Gaubas in the first set, Gaubas ended up winning 2-0. Ajdukovic also had a very good serve and strong shots, and even though he won the first set against Gaubas, he ended up losing the match. Pablo Llamas Ruiz may not have been a surprising opponent, but based on statistics he should have been an easier opponent for Gaubas because he doesn't have a very good serve and his technique is likely not the best. The Spaniard didn't play in any tournaments from May to this year, and although he is playing this season, his results have not been the best. This season, at a challenger event at home, he managed to make it to the quarterfinals, but everywhere else he has been knocked out in the first or second round. He also unexpectedly won against Svirnica, although I didn't see that match. Maybe he was dealing with an injury, but that should only make it easier for our Vilius to concentrate and slightly relax against the Spaniard. Our opponent is also not very consistent after coming back from an injury; he may easily win one match but then lose the next one.
