The French are improving in this sport every year. The national team made it to the top four in the last World Cup, unfortunately finishing in fourth place, but it was still a great achievement for the team. Here, in the first matches, they also nerves of some of the favorites, barely losing to Hungary by just one goal. The Japanese are consistently the strongest team in Asia, but often don't make it to the playoffs. Looking at their group here in Paris, a similar scenario is likely to unfold.
