HSV is trying to regaain their Bundesliga status. Until last year, they were one of few teams in Germany that have always played Bundesliga, but that is over now. They are currently having 44 points and are on the 3rd place in the league and with 3 points today, they can go 2nd and only 1 point behind first team. That is what they need. They don't want to be third and go to playoffs, they want to be 1st of 2nd and in order to do so, they cant lose points against teams like Furth that are in the second part of the table.
