The Philadelphia Flyers haven't had a consistent goalie in years, so fans of the club aren't overly anxious to start getting emotionally invested in their latest netminder. The 22-year-old undrafted rookie Sergei Bobrovsky, however, is making it pretty hard not to.

On Saturday night the Flyers topped the New York Islanders by a score of 2-1, it was Bobrovsky's sixth consecutive victory, tying an NHL rookie record. Over the course of his 10 games with the Flyers since taking over for injured goaltender Michael Leighton, Bobrovsky has won eight games.

So far Bobrovsky has posted a GAA of 2.21 and a save percentage of .927, two very impressive numbers for an unproven player in his first season as a pro.

The Flyers have, along with their rookie goalie, enjoyed success early on in the 2010-11 season. After Saturday's win the team sits in first place in the entire Eastern Conference with 19 points. Only the Los Angeles Kings have more (20).

Between their heroic run to the Stanley Cup Finals as a seventh-seed last spring and their rapid rise to the top of the Eastern Conference so far this year, one would expect the team to have a legitimate shot at the title in 2011. According to the Bodog Sportsbook the Flyers have 15/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup.

The Chicago Blackhawks could have Marian Hossa back in the lineup tonight when they host the faltering Edmonton Oilers in the United Center. After missing the past five games with an upper-body injury sustained on Oct. 27, Hossa is nearing a return in order to help the reigning champion Hawks climb back up the Western Conference standings.

Currently the Blackhawks sit towards the bottom of the Central Division with an 8-7-1 record in a league-leading 16 games. The fact that the club has started so slowly out of the gates is a mystery. After beginning the season with 6/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup, the team's betting outlook has changed. If you believe Hossa and company can turn it around and repeat as champions anyway, now's the time to play since the long-term odds have dipped to 10/1.

With Hossa back in the lineup the team welcomes yet another point-per-game player to join torrid Patrick Sharpe and natural high scorers Patrick Kane and Jonathan Toews. Perhaps in preparation for his showdown with two of the top rookies in the NHL (Jordan Eberle and Taylor Hall), Toews put in a four-point Saturday night. Is this the night that Toews, Kane, Hossa and company prove that their early season hiccups are over?

With such a star-studded roster it seems only a matter of time before things start clicking and the wins start pouring in more frequently for the Blackhawks. The fact that, even during their struggles, they have managed to remain plus-.500 is impressive.

The Detroit Red Wings needed overtime to take down the Phoenix Coyotes on Monday night, but they managed to pull it off in the lone game on the NHL schedule. The 3-2 extra time win gave the club points number 18 and 19 on the year in just 13 games. Now the Wings trail only the St. Louis Blues in the Central Division standings.

The win came in the first of six consecutive games at home for Detroit, a welcome change after falling 6-4 to the Vancouver Canucks in British Columbia over the weekend.

Now with a 9-3-1 record, the Red Wings are proving that although they may be getting up there in age, they're far from out of the picture when it comes to the 2011 championship. According to the Bodog Sportsbook, the Wings have 17/2 odds of winning the Stanley Cup.

Henrik Zetterberg put in the overtime winner on the night, while Nicklas Lidstrom and Danny Cleary added the others. Pavel Datsyuk added an assist in the win making for a box score quite indicative of how this team has operated over the course of the past few seasons – including their run to the 2008 Stanley Cup.

This season is no different. With the points, Zetterberg, Lidstrom and Datsyuk all tallied their 15th of the season in only 13 games. If the three can maintain the torrid early season pace the Wings could be just as threatening as either the 2009 champion Pittsburgh Penguins or 2010 champion Chicago Blackhawks.

The Vancouver Canuck were doing just fine recently on an impressive winning streak until Carey Price came along.

On Tuesday night the Canucks had their six-game streak snapped by Price, a British Columbia native, in his sixth career shut out. The Montreal Canadiens netminder stopped 31 shots en route to a 2-0 victory Habs win and Vancouver's first regulation loss since Oct. 19.

The victory gave Montreal their 18th and 19th points of the year, enough to vault them to the top of the Northeast Division and third place in the East.

All-Star defenceman Andrei Markov scored his first goal of the season on the night, as well as Roman Hamrlik, improving the team record to 9-5-1. With the loss the Canucks would fall to 8-4-2.

It was a battle of the league's best and worst power plays, but the Canucks failed to exploit their advantage. In four power play attempts, the world class Vancouver man advantage was held scoreless.

According to the Bodog Sportsbook, the Montreal Canadiens have 25/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup. After last season's heroic run to the Eastern Conference Finals as an eighth seed, anything is possible for the club in 2011.

The Vancouver Canucks have 8/1 odds of winning the Cup thanks to goaltender Roberto Luongo and the continued dominance of Henrik Sedin and Daniel Sedin.

Whether a fan of the Canucks of the Canadiens, the Bodog Sportsbook has a promotion for you, an ongoing deal that promises a pair of NHL tickets of your choice for a streak of 12 consecutive successful bets. For information on the deal and NHL betting in general, remember to Streak up the Cup.

At the end of Friday night's loss to the Florida Panthers, Minnesota Wild defenseman Brent Burns got creative with his stick butt-ended Panthers forward Steve Bernier. On Saturday it was announced that Burns would undergo a two-game suspension and surrender just under $40,000 in salary.

The loss of Burns doesn't bode well for the Wild who, mired in a two-game losing streak after starting to emerge as a threat in the Northwest, will now be without the high-scoring blue liner. So far this season 25-year-old Burns already has five goals and four assists in nine games. This year marks his seventh season with the club.

With a 7-6-2 record and 65/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup, the Wild could use all the early season production they can get, especially if they want to squeeze in as one of the Western Conference playoffs teams. Until their most recent skid the Wild were on pace to qualify for the playoffs.

To bet on the Minnesota Wild with or without Burns, NHL futures and individual game odds are available at Bodog's online sportsbook. Though they may have struggled in 2009-10, the team has improved in 2010-11 thanks to the continued leadership of newly-appointed captain Mikko Koivu and the production of Minnesota-native/offseason acquiree Matt Cullen.

If the team can put together a few points in Burns' absence, you can imagine they'll look to vault back into the post-season upon his return. With goaltender Nicklas Backstrom starting to heat up between the pipes, anything is possible.

The Montreal Canadiens will be without 32-year-old defenseman Andrei Markov for the next little while after the blue liner reaggravated a knee injury on Saturday that has plagued him for much of the past two season.

After starting the season on the injured reserve, the All-Star had finally started to get back on track.

It hasn't been officially announced by the team, what exactly is in store for Markov, but after a knee-on-knee collision with Carolina Hurricanes captain Eric Staal, it doesn't look. More is expected to be revealed after an MRI scheduled for today.

The Montreal Canadiens have started the 2010-11 season on a good note, however, despite Markov's struggles to stay healthy. At 11-5-1 the club has emerged atop the Northeast Division and in third place in the entire Eastern Conference. To bet on the Montreal Canadiens, find your Habs odds in Bodog's online sportsbook.

At this point in the season the Canadiens have 20/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup. Given their heroic playoff run last season and their success so far this year, it's hard not to consider them potential championship contenders. The sooner Markov can heal up and get back on the ice, the better.

The Philadelphia Flyers had the opportunity to sneak into first place in the entire NHL on Tuesday, but a 3-0 shut out loss at the hands of the Montreal Canadiens cost them the top spot.

The Habs saw 41 saves from goaltender Carey Price, just a day removed from being named one of the NHL's Three Stars of the Week for the previous week.

On this night all eyes were on the Flyers as they stood the chance of leapfrogging Alex Ovechkin and the Washignton Captials for first place in not just the East but the entire league. Currently the Capitals are the leaders of the hockey universe with 6/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup.

With a record of 12-4-2 the Flyers have followed up their heroic run to the Stanley Cup Finals last season admirably. During that legendary run they took down eighth-seeded Montreal. This time around the Flyers are favored with 12/1 odds of winning the Cup. The Montreal Canadiens on the other hand have odds of 20/1.

To bet on the NHL, whether you're team resides in the East with the Flyers, Habs and Caps or the West, check out Bodog's online sportsbook. Individual game odds, player props and Stanley Cup futures are all available.

The Toronto Maple Leafs have failed horribly at meeting the mediocre expectations people had for them in 2010-11, though mediocre is exactly what their record might indicate. Currently the Leafs are 6-8-3, not quite playoff bound but a few spots removed from the basement of the Eastern Conference.

Now almost a month and a half into the regular season, the club has alternated between impressive win streaks and horrible losing skids. They've experienced the thrill of calling up top rookie prospect Nazem Kadri, but not before watching team captain Dion Phaneuf miss a number of games with what was deemed to be a significant leg laceration. Ouch.

Naturally, just as the Leafs welcomed Phaneuf back to the lineup and completed a fascinating comeback against the Nashville Predators on Tuesday, they had to announce that No. 1 goaltender J. S. Giguere will miss two weeks with a minor groin injury. Figures.

With a team so capable of putting together a string of impressive performances, it's hard not to bet on the Toronto Maple Leafs, but then they go and do something like lose eight-consecutive games and crush any faith anybody ever had of them. They currently have 50/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup.

The variation makes for some compelling NHL betting. Think you can ride the waves of Toronto's up and down season? If we've learned anything from their first month and a half of the 2010-11 season, they'll all end up somewhere in the middle. Would it kill them to string together a week or two where they finally perform not as an overachieving squad or underwhelming disappointment, but as average?

Speaking of streaks, let's assume you're a fan of hockey betting and of winning NHL tickets.

The Calgary Flames will be without forward Olli Jokinen for the next three games as he has been issued a suspension for the cross check he laid out on Wojtek Wolski of the Phoenix Coyotes. The incident occurred Wednesday night in a 3-1 Calgary loss.

With the loss the Flames have dropped three in a row and sit in second-last place in the Western Conference with a record of 7-10-0. Without Jokinen their struggles will only be made worse.

Currently the Bodog Sportsbook gives Calgary 45/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup. If they plan to come through, the club will have to reverse a trend of bad luck. Through 17 games so far this season, Jokinen has tallied just eight points.

The suspension-earning cross check occurred in the third period of the Wednesday night loss, resulting in a five-minute major and game misconduct. Until now Jokinen had played in each of Calgary's games so far in the 2010-11 season.

To bet on the Calgary Flames without Jokinen, check out Bodog's online sportsbook. Here's a team with two former superstars in Jarome Iginla and Miikka Kiprusoff each leaning towards the twilights of their careers. After the trade earlier this week that saw general manger Darryl Sutter trade his own son, you can imagine the franchise won't put the good years Iginla and Kiprusoff have left to waste.

The Edmonton Oilers have a long way to go before they strike fear in their Western Conference opponents but if Sunday night is any indication, they aren't all misery and misfortune.

With a 4-2 victory last night over the Anaheim Ducks, the Oilers won just their third game in the past 17, snapping a six-game skid. Though dead last in the West, the team literally and figuartively has nowhere to go but up.

Ales Hemsky managed the go-ahead third period goal in the Anaheim win, but perhaps more assuringly, 2010 first overall draft pick Taylor Hall scored his fourth goal of the season.

It may be slow coming, but the Oilers have a young roster with superstar potential. Now they just have to nourish that to the point where in the future they'll be able to threaten for a playoff spot. Not only was Hall making his presence felt offensively, but goaltender Devan Dubnyk between the pipes. Filling in for the injured Nikolai Khabibulin, Dubnyk stopped 38 of 40 shots on the night.

Through 19 games so far this season, Hall has tallied nine points while rookie teammate Jordan Eberle has managed 12. Between the two budding star forwards, Dubnyk in net ,and 2009 first round pick Magnus Paajarvi, not to mention their existing core of veterans and young Sam Gagner, the future looks bright for the franchise, even if their roster doesn't.

To bet on the Edmonton Oilers in individual game play, get in the game with Bodog's online sportsbook. Crazier things have happened in the world of NHL betting.

The NHL's traditional Three Stars of the Week came and went yesterday with one superstar forward earning honors and a pair of less acclaimed defenseman rounding out the three.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have been capitalizing on the success of Canadian Olympian and team captain Rick Nash lately, as his league-high six goals paced the Jackets en route to three consecutive west coast wins. Not only did Nash post a hat trick on the week, but also put in a pair of game-winning goals that speak volumes of how dependent Columbus really is on their go-to guy.

To bet on the Columbus Blue Jackets fresh off of Nash's achievement and goaltender Steve Mason's most recent shut out, get in the game with Bodog.

The Second Star of the Week is John-Michael- iles of the streaking Colorado Avalanche. Over the course of the week the Avs went 4-0-0 while Liles managed seven points, including a pair of goals. His +5 rating over the span is hard to ignore. After starting the season hot, Liles has shown consistency over the course of the first 20 games the season. So far the blue liner has three goals and 17 assists.

Thanks in part to Liles, the Avs have decent 35/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup. Will they be able to keep up the pace and secure another spot in the Western Conference playoffs? That's for you to determine with NHL futures.

Bringing up the rear as the Third Star of the Week is Detroit Red Wings veteran defenseman Brian Rafalski who managed seven assists on the week. Currently the Wings sit atop the Western Conference with a 13-3-2 and will look to continue to add to that with a healthy Rafalski back in the lineup.

Simon Gagne had spent 18 games on the sidelines with a neck injury when he stepped up to score the Tampa Bay Lightning's most recent game-winning goal against the Toronto Maple Leafs on Tuesday.

The overtime winner came just over a minute into the extra frame giving the 30-year-old winger his first goal of the season. Earlier in the game he managed to tally his first assist of 2010-11 as well.

Before the neck injury Gagne had gone pointless in six games, ironic considering the impressive start his Lightning enjoyed in October. After coming over in the offseason from the Stanley Cup final runner up Chicago Blackhawks, Lightning fans had expected the 70+ point player to make more of an impact.

Currently the Lightning are 14-8-3, good enough for fifth in the superior Eastern Conference. Much of that success has come as a result of third year center Steven Stamkos' dominant goal scoring presence. Unfortunately for Stamkos and all those interested in the 2011 50-in-50 candidate, Stamkos was held scoreless for the third consecutive game.

According to the Bodog Sportsbook, the Lightning have 20/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup. If Gagne, captain Vincent Lecavalier, Martin St. Louis and Stamkos can all return and stay healthy, they could be making an impressive playoff run this spring.

The Boston Bruins have been in the news lately with a pair of trades and a shut out victory over the Philadelphia Flyers but no news will go over quite as well as the news of superstar center Marc Savard potentially returning tonight against the Tampa Bay Lightning or in the very near future.

After suffering a concussion at the hands of Pittsburgh Penguins goon Matt Cooke last March, Savard has seen much of the past year slip away. Though he made a brief cameo in the postseason last spring, the effects of the injury have lingered complicating matters and concerning fans. As of Nov. 24, Savard has been practicing with the team.

When healthy Savard is a point-per-game player capable of pushing 90 points if healthy for a full season. In 2009-10 Savard managed 33 points in 41 games but had managed as much as 97 and 96 points in 2005-06 and 2006-07 respectively.

So far without their 33-year-old stud the Bruins have managed to hang onto a spot in the Eastern Conference playoff picture with a record of 13-8-2 through their first 23. As -155 favorites to take down the Lightning tonight it will be interesting to see how the team reacts if Savard is, in fact, in the lineup.

According to the Bodog Sportsbook the Boston Bruins have 14/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup. At times it looks as though the expectations are reasonable and at others, not so much. With a healthy Savard and a revitalized Tim Thomas in net, this is a potentially lethal team. With Marco Sturm now out of the picture for good and Tyler Seguin continuing to develop in his place, the future could look bright in Boston.

To bet on the Bruins, get in the game with Bodog Sportsbook.

Canadians like to make a big fuss about their hockey teams, and who can blame them? When such a significant chunk of the league's best players hail from the country, it's easy to assume that the franchises based in Canada would be equally successful. They're not though, just ask any champion since 1994.

At this point in the 2010-11 NHL season, nearly a third of the way through, just two of six Canadian clubs would be in playoff position should the season end today. A quick look through the standings reveals just how teams have fared at this point in the season, who has flourished and who has failed.

The Montreal Canadiens lead the brigade of Canadian clubs with 17-8-2. Currently third in the East, behind Washington and Philadelphia, the Habs will have to continue to play at an elite level if they hope to make noise in the postseason like last year. The Pittsburgh Penguins, seeded lower due to the fact that MTL leads the Northeast Division, will be just as tough to get past as either the Caps or Flyers ahead of them in the standings. To bet on the Canadiens check out Bodog's online sportsbook.

The Vancouver Canucks, highly regarded as a potential champion heading into the season with 8/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup, are the lone Canadian club in the Western Conference picture. Will Roberto Luongo be able to make Canada proud now that he doesn't have those pesky Olympics to deal with? He'll have to make it by the dominant Detroit Red Wings if he wants to.

From there things start to get exciting. The Leafs fill the role of constant disappointment, the Flames are aging veterans mere shells of their former selves. The Edmonton Oilers have a young, promising franchise spearheaded by big name rookies Taylor Hall and Jordan Eberle, but until recently couldn't manage to win a hockey game.

Then there's the Ottawa Senators. They're just kind of there.

To bet on the NHL and embrace the blind patriotic love Canadians have for their franchises, get in the game with Bodog. Or just play Alex Ovechkin and the Washington Capitals. Good luck getting into Banff for that ski vacation if you do that.

After 18 seasons in the NHL, 39-year-old winger Bill Guerin is calling it a career. Most recently Guerin played a season and a half with the Pittsburgh Penguins, winning a championship in the 2009 season.

Though he originally had intended to play in the 2010-11 season, partaking in training camp with the Philadelphia Flyers, Guerin went unsigned and decided to call it quits while he was ahead. Not only does the Massachusetts native retire as an 856 point getter, but a two-time Stanley Cup champion as well. In addition to his ring with the 2009 Penguins, Guerin was a member of the 1995 New Jersey Devils.

Guerin's career high came in the 2000-01 season when he erupted for 85 points in 85 games (yes) across stints with both the Edmonton Oilers and Boston Bruins. On other occasions he broke the 60 point mark but for the most part stayed within 40-50 points.

Having played 18 seasons for eight franchises Guerin's career is not synonymous with a particular franchise. His longest tour of duty was seven years with the Devils, but that ended in 1998.

As a result, despite his respectable career, there isn't one team that identifies with the loss more than the others. Although Guerin's retirement announcement was made through the Pittsburgh Penguins, he was more of a travelling gun-for-hire over the course of his time in the NHL.

Guerin's contributions to Pittsburgh though, are not to be overlooked. Now with league best 5/1 odds of winning a Stanley Cup, the second in the Sidney Crosby era, the Penguins are one of the best teams in hockey. He also had brief stints with the New York Islanders and Edmonton Oilers who now boast league-low 200/1 shots of winning the Cup.

To bet on NHL hockey post-Guerin, get in the game. He may not go down as a Hall of Famer, but the league would not exist without players like this that transcend generations.

The Buffalo Sabres were hoping to get a third consecutive shutout out of Ryan Miller on Tuesday night but the Boston Bruins put an end to that dream early on. A first period goal by Milan Lucic snapped a 150+ minute-long streak and helped the Bruins put together an overtime victory that would stifle Buffalo's brief two game run.

Miller stopped 34 out of 37 shots on the night, eventually surrendering the overtime goal to Dennis Seidenberg. The final score saw Boston up 3-2.

So far this season, Miller has posted a pedestrian 9-8-2 record with only two shut outs. His save percentage of .922 and GAA of 2.26, however, are more consistent with the dominance of his past. Given the entire Sabres team's struggles (11-14-3), it would have been nice to extend the streak in hopes of climbing up and into the Eastern Conference playoff picture.

Coming off a season in which he posted 41 wins and put together an amazing showing in the midseason Olympics it just wouldn't be right if he continued to battle night in and night out with little support from the Buffalo offense.

According to the Bodog Sportsbook, the Sabres have 65/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup. Realistically those odds aren't bound to improve unless the club can generate more of a presence elsewhere on the ice.

Derek Roy currently leads Buffalo in points with 26, trailed by Thomas Vanek at just 21.

With his scoreless streak now reduced to 00:00 Miller will have to start fresh when the club hosts the San Jose Sharks at home on Thursday. To bet on the Buffalo Sabres, get in the game with Bodog's online sportsbook.

The Toronto Maple Leafs didn't benefit as much from the return of Dion Phaneuf as they had hoped on Thursday night, falling in his big return by a score of 4-1. The tilt with the Philadelphia Flyers was Phaneuf's first since a leg injury disabled him on Nov. 2.

In the 15 games since they first lost their star blue liner, the Maple Leafs have struggled. Now near the bottom of the Eastern Conference standings the club was hoping the return of their captain would provide a necessary boost to help get them back on track. Unfortunately, thanks to 31 Brian Boucher saves a win was not to be.

The game marked Phaneuf's first action since suffering a leg laceration so severe that it required exploratory surgery for team doctors to assess the damage. Prior to the injury Phaneuf had logged four assists in 11 games. He added another in the loss.

Scoring for the Flyers on the night were Chris Pronger, Ville Leino and Danny Briere who added a pair.

With the loss the Toronto Maple Leafs fall to 10-14-4 on the year, trailing only the New Jersey Devils and New York Islanders for worst record in the entire NHL. According to the Bodog Sportsbook they have just 80/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup.

The Flyers, on the other hand, have thrived in 2010-11. With an 18-7-5 record the club finds themselves behind only the Pittsburgh Penguins for the best record in the league.

The Columbus Blue Jackets have sent 2008 sixth overall draft pick Nikita Filatov down to the AHL after a disappointing start to his third professional campaign. In each of the past two seasons Filatov has shown flashes of brilliance, unfortunately he hasn't been able to sustain it long enough to warrant a steady spot on the surprisingly successful team.

Through 23 games this season Filatov has registered seven assists with no goals and a plus minus of +3.

As a former first-round pick expectations were high for Filatov, now just 20 years old, but he hasn't quite lived up to the hype. His most successful moments as an NHLer came in his first eight games with the club back during the 2008-09 season in which he was drafted. Since then he has bounced between the AHL and, more recently, KHL.

With a 15-11-1 record Columbus has emerged as a potential Western Conference playoff team currently amongst a pack of seven teams between 6th and 11th place separated by a single point in the standings. According to the Bodog Sportbsook the club has 50/1 odds of winning the Stanley Cup.

Whether or not they'll be able to hang on to the opportunity depends largely on third year center Steve Mason who has struggled between the pipes. The pieces are there for the Jackets to be a solid franchise (most notably Filatov and Mason), it's just a matter of getting everybody to play up to their maximum potential.

Though the 2010-11 campaign might not be the year they make their push for a title, it's not as crazy as it seems to bet on the Columbus Blue Jackets. For NHL odds check out Bodog's online sportsbook.

As strange as it seems Corey Perry had never registered a hat trick before today, so when he decided to finally hit the milestone he figured why not do it in style.

On Sunday night Perry registered three goals and a pair of assists for good measure, bringing his season total up to 35 on the year. The dramatic leap propelled the 25-year-old into the upper echelon of NHL scorers so far in the 2010-11 season.

That the point spree singlehandedly powered the Anaheim Ducks to their third consecutive win was an especially nice bonus. The Ducks scored early and often against the Minnesota Wild on the night, finishing with a convincing 6-2 victory.

On the season the Ducks are now 16-13-4, good enough for fourth place in the Western Conference. The Wild, in contrast, drop to 13-12-4 after back to back wins prior to their Sunday loss.

According to the Bodog Sportsbook the Ducks have 45/1 odds to win the Stanley Cup. If they plan on making noise over the course of the remainder of the season they'll need the returns to health of veterans Saku Koivu and Teemu Selanne.

Though team captain Ryan Getzlaf and the constantly developing Bobby Ryan help give the franchise a dangerous offensive punch, the team can't rely on games such as Perry's on Sunday to get them through the year.

Joining Perry in the points column in the monstrous victory were Getzlaf with two goals and one assists, Ryan with a goal and two assists and defenseman Lubomir Visnovsky with a pair of assists.
