I make the final table in a 100K tourny. i have 14K in chips im the short stack there are 8 people left. blinds are 8 and 16 thousand, there is almost 30K in the pot before the flop, it folds around to me i have 66 against the BB i push he calls he flips over AA. i go out 8th. and get reemed by my friends for pushing. do you thing that was the right play?

Yes that was the right play. You dont have enough chips to even pay the blinds again if you fold and a pair is the best you can hope for. You were unlucky he had an overpair, if he had 77 it would have been just as bad for you. I think you would have been called anyway with any 2 cards if the BB had any kind of a stack, so you would have been against overcards and in a flip even if they didn't have a pair. Just a tough spot with your stack size.

I agree with your play, you just had extremely bad luck, sucks when it happens to you.

I agree with the play assuming you are in late position. Marginal play in Mid, and taking chances in Early position. There is always the chance for higher hiand than pair of 6's. Ive seen AA killed hundreds of times with smaller hole cards against it. What would your friends say if your sixes turned into a fullhouse or trips. Probably say lucky suck out, dont worry about them its your hand play it.

Not only are you shortstacked but you have less than 3 'M'. 6-6 is a definite shove from mid. position even,.. you're counting on still having some fold equity here so a shove is the play without a doubt.
Just unlucky from sb vs. bb.
On a reasonably tight final table (with decent players), 8-To is actually considered the lowest value of hand that you'd be wanting to make the allin shove with while in the 'Red Zone' (less than 5 'M',... 'M' being the total cost in chips for one orbit (ie. sb + bb + antes)).
I really don't think shoving 6-6 from mid. is a 'marginal' play at all. What kind of hand would one be waiting for in the Red Zone??... would you wait till your stack is so small that you no longer have any fold equity😟 This is a rookie-ish play by someone not overly familiar with final table play.
GL next time,.. .shit happens.

Oops.. I read this wrong... I thought you said you had 100K left in your stack. Even then it'd be a push for sure!! With less than one bigblind??... damn.. of course it's a shove from any position😡😡!!

Question,.. why did you let yourself get down as low as that in the first place? Unless it was from getting called while shoving and just barely having other player outchipped, one should never let themselves get below 3M. When you're down that low (even under 5M) it's an auto-shove and with hands far weaker than a low pocket pair.
For tips on this kind of play I strongly recommend reading Harrington On Holdem Vol. 2 and pay particular attention to 'inflection points' and 'mulitple inflection points'.

P.S. Your friends obviously know very little about tournament NLHE play,.. so why let it bother you? I'm guessing you're fairly new to the game as well, otherwise you wouldn't be posting this question and you'd know that your friends were clueless when they said this.
100K tourney😟... what one was that? I think I need to play it😡

You did the right play.Short stacked deep into the comp and such huge blinds, you were unlucky to meet the bullets but the sixes would have struggled to hold up against overcards😁, congrats on making the final table in such a big tourney

Sorry but that seriously has to be the daftest question I've ever read...

There could be countless reasons.

He may have just lost a big hand and that was all he was left with.

With such a short stack at the final table I'd be more then satisfied with 8th. I don't know where your playin but anywhere i play that would pay pretty good.
Congradulations and better luck nxt time.
