Full Tilt Poker vs. FBI Investigation

Reply Subscribe
It has been suggested that Full Tilt Poker is being investigated by the Federal Bureau of Investigation in the USA. Full Tilt Poker is licensed and regulated by the Alderney Gambling Control Commission. With the full enforcement of the prohibition on online gambling in the USA looming the Feds are moving rapidly to have someone ready to prosecute once the June first 2010 deadline arrives.

FBI agents stated that they were gathering information about the modus operandi of Full Tilt regarding its payment methods.

(Those players approached are all from the Washington area, which makes it easier for the FBI to lay a charge since online poker playing is considered a felony.)

Just Google "FBI Full Tilt Investigation" and you'll get a few links right off the bat. But the reports so far are fairly short and not in great depth. . .

It has been noted that investigations have been conducted on players residing in Washington state, and while agents have actually contacted these Full Tilt Poker users, there is no reason for them to believe that any charges have been brought against them, though there is no guarantee that there won’t be. Washington is the only state in the US in which severe anti-online gambling laws target the individual players directly, which may be why the Feds have chosen to interrogate this location.

If those players are violating state law, why is the FBI investigating? Seems like they would have better things to investigate like kidnapping, or bank robbers or such. Lets go bust the poor smuck with a couple of bucks in full tilt! Our tax dollars hard at work as usual.
