Serie A: Inter Milan vs Juventus Betting Preview

Inter Milan look to take a big step towards securing a top 4 spot as they take on the already crowned champions Juventus at San Siro.

Looking at the table, this game is far more important for the hosts who are still not officially clear of finishing in the top 4 as they’re 5 points clear of 4th and 5th placed Milan and Atalanta with 5 games left. Meanwhile, Juventus are 20 pts clear and they’re playing for nothing other than to see if they can rack up 100+ points as they already have the title in the bag.

Inter have been on an inconsistent run of form in recent weeks having won 4 of their last 8 games as they’ve won every other game in this stretch (WLWLWDWD).

Meanwhile, Juventus have seen a dip in form themselves arguably playing some of their worst football of the season right now. Juve did win their last game against Fiorentina 2-1 to secure the league title, but it was slightly unconvincing plus prior to that they tasted 2 defeats and had 1 draw. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Juventus have dipped in their league form considering how far ahead they are at the top it’s only natural for teams to drop off with that type of a lead in the table and don’t be surprised if we see up and down results through the final 5 games from them.

Inter have really struggled at San Siro lately having gone winless in 4 straight games losing 2 and drawing 2 and only managing 1 goal. They have faced some tough sides here recently in Frankfurt (EL), Lazio, Atalanta and Roma but this lack of winning at home is a bit of a concern. Inter still do possess the best defensive record at home in the league with 8 GA, but their attack has been stagnant at home and their overall record has fallen to 9W 4D 3L in the league which is only 5th best in the league. Inter have shown a tendency to drop points to big teams at home as mentioned above with their recent results.

Juventus have been great away from home this season with a 13W 1D 2L record, however they have lost 2 of their last 3 league games away to Genoa and Spal which is again understandable considering they have lost a bit of focus in the league given how far ahead they. Juve have been really good in big away games this season beating AC Milan, Lazio, Napoli and grabbing a draw against Atalanta.

Mauro Icardi is the man to watch for Inter. He loves a big occasion and normally shows up for big games having scored against the likes of Milan, Lazio x3, Atalanta, Barcelona, Roma, Tottenham this season already. He still is their top scorer with 16 goals across all competitions.

For Juventus, it’s obviously Cristiano Ronaldo as the man to watch. He will probably still play despite the meaningless game to see if he can win the golden boot. Ronaldo has 19 league goals and has especially been great away from home. He’s the ultimate big game player and expect him to have a big performance here for Juventus.

Juventus beat Inter 1-0 in the reverse fixture in what was a closely contested match up.

Further looking at H2H, Inter have done well only losing 1 time in their last 4 home games against Juventus (2W 1D), however that defeat came last season as Juventus scored 2 late goals to win 2-3 in what proved to be a very crucial win for them in the title race against Napoli. The games at San Siro have been quite high scoring lately as the past 3 meetings have had 12 total goals between these teams which is unusual considering how good defensively they both are.

Inter are tipped as slight bookies favourites to win this game at 2.40 whereas Juventus to win is 3.00 with Draw offered at 3.30. It shouldn’t come as a surprise that Inter are favourites given the fact that this game is more important to them, however don’t expect Juventus to just lay down because they won the league already. Expect this to be a tightly contested game. Odds are based on Unibet.
