As of 5pm ET on Friday, the jackpot of the popular Texas Hold'em game had reached over $490,000. With $0.50 collected from each qualifying hand at designated Bad Beat Jackpot tables, that number is expected to surpass the half-million mark by late Friday. The next player to lose a hand holding four 8s or anything better will win a large piece of the jackpot. The participants in the bad beat hand will also share in the jackpot.

Anyone who loses with quad eights or better using both cards in his hand at a designated bad beat jackpot table will receive the biggest percentage of the prize. The winner of the hand will receive the next-biggest prize.

It has never been so lucrative to be sitting at a bad beat jackpot table since the record before this jackpot was nearly half as small at $464,652.03. The player with the king-high straight-flush took down the pot as well as an extra $133,521.48. In addition, the participants in the hand each received $33,380.37.
