Bears Win and Cover Versus Packers

The dreaded homedog strikes again.

NFL odds had the Chicago Bears as +3 underdogs at home versus the Green Bay Packers on Monday Night Football and the Bears proved, once again, that bettors should always think twice before taking a road favorite with a 20-17 win.

But it wasn't a great night from Chicago quarterback Jay Cutler or the defense that beat the Pack, it was whopping 17 penalties for 152 yards by Green Bay that led to this upset.

On a couple of occasions Cutler was completing balls to the opposition again. But every time the Bears needed a yellow flag the Packers defense would commit a bonehead penalty. The same went for the Pack offense when QB Aaron Rodgers led them down field.

Cutler finished Monday night with 221 passing yards, one touchdown and one interception. Rodgers had 316 yards, one touchdowns and one interception. Neither team could get any respectable run game going.

The Packers had a chance late to comeback and beat the Bears, but WR Jason Jones fumbled a pass from Rodgers with 2:18 remaining in the game and the Bears capitalized, scoring a the game-sealing field goal with eight seconds remaining.

I try to avoid 3, 7 and 10 point spreads...

It was an entertaining game, and bears woulda won by 6 if they hadn't burned clock.
