In a shocker this year, Temple will come out of nowhere to win it all. Fran Dunphy will finally do what John Chaney couldn't.

Welcome:

Just lost all the money in one of my sportsbooks because I could not lay off the last game of the night. Utah State losing after beating the team by 18 points less than 9 days earlier.

Still have triple digits left in the Bodog and Sportsbook account, but I try to save those for poker. Will prbably use the other two sportsbooks, that do not have poker on them for the college betting. I don't know though, I hate betting on champion vs champion games. When it is all on the table and you can be sent home, a bad team will play their heart out.

With the NCAA college basketball tournament just days away, several high profile sports betting companies have decided to set up shops throughout the US. The companies are hoping they can attract more of the underground betting market than they already own.

Welcome:

Here are a few key NCAA tournament betting and bracket tips to keep in mind when you make your March Madness picks:

Don’t fall in love with only No. 1 seeds. Since seeding began in 1979, just nine teams have entered the tournament No. 1 in at least one poll and have won a championship. Moreover, only once since then have all four top seeds made the Final Four (in 2008). Upsets are going to happen.

Stay away from the 16-seeds. Yes, upsets are going to happen—but not here. A 16-seed has never won a game in tournament history.

Expect a surprise or two in the 5/12 match ups. Every year we see one or two fifth-seeded teams go down. It’s like clockwork. In fact, No. 5 teams have a winning percentage of just 66 percent—-a huge drop off from the fours beating the 13s, for example (79 percent of the time).

Looking to pick a perfect NCAA tournament bracket? For that, all I can wish you is luck. The odds of putting together a perfect NCAA tournament bracket are astronomical. How astronomical? You’ve got a better chance at heading down to the local 7-11, buying a single lottery ticket and winning the Powerball jackpot. 😄

The online gambling website BetUS-com is offering up a daring prediction for the 2010 NCAA Men's College Basketball Tournament.

They are going against experts opinion that Richmond will make it deep into the tournament while also predicting that Louisville will be eliminated early.

Bodog has begun rolling out prop options for this weekend’s Final Four in Indianapolis, and according to the site’s oddsmakers the least likely championship game matchup – at 7/2 — is West Virginia vs. Michigan State, which makes perfect sense considering those two teams are underdogs in their national semifinal matchups.

Michigan State beating West Virginia in the national title game is the longest shot odds-wise at 11/1. I’m still surprised that the oddsmakers believe Butler is a slightly better shot than the Spartans, who have more Final Four experience than any of these teams put together. Duke beating Butler on Monday night for the national title is the favorite on Bodog at 7/2.

Another prop option involves which will be the highest-scoring and lowest-scoring teams in the Final Four round. Duke is the 2/1 favorite to be the highest-scoring team, and the Blue Devils should be considering they rank No. 23 in the nation in scoring offense at 77.4 points per game. West Virginia is 84th at 72.8 per game, MSU is 93rd at 72.4 per game and Butler is way down at No. 157 in averaging 69.4 points per game. It’s the Spartans that are the 2/1 favorites to be the Final Four’s lowest-scoring team – remember, too, that Sparty is without leading scorer Kalin Lucas.

Another prop option on Bodog’s college basketball odds is whether a Final Four or national championship game will go to overtime. History says no, and that answer is a huge -450 favorite. The last national title game to go an extra session was Kansas over Memphis in 2008 — before that it had been since 1997. And if you look back the past few years, the Final Four games haven’t really been close. The last time a national semifinal was even decided by five points or less was in 2004 when both semis were close: Georgia Tech 67, Oklahoma State 65 and UConn 79, Duke 78.

However, it sure seems that these Final Four teams are very evenly matched, and this year’s tournament has been filled with fantastic finishes. So taking the “yes” overtime option at +300 might be a good value bet.
