How to watch the Belmont Stakes live online?
I downloaded a software program to my computer that allows me to watch the Belmont live and basically any other horse race online. I use it because a lot of times I'm at work during these triple crown races, and there's no TV at work.
It's easy to operate and downloads very quickly. I was watching the Derby in a matter of minutes after I got it downloaded to my pc in May. The only pc requirements are DSL or cable Internet and a windows operating system (sorry mac users), and it apparently works in any country.

The following is a timeline of the events in the history of the Kentucky Derby:
1902: Matt Winn puts up a group of investors; the first Kentucky State Fair happened in Churchill where approximately 40,000 spectators attended.
1903: The group started renovations, and Churchill Downs' made its first revenue.
1907: Auto races were held alongside the Kentucky State Fair.
1911: Col. Winn decreased the minimum wager, and hired two employees for a betting booth. One operated the clicker and the other sold tickets.
1915: Regret was the first filly to clinch the Derby.
1918-19: A clique headed by James Graham Brown -- the Kentucky Jockey club -- took over Churchill Downs, Douglas park, Latonia, Kentucky Association, and others. Winn remained as General Manager and Vice-President.
1924: Black Gold clinched the Golden Jubilee derby.
1925 to 1949: The Kentucky Derby's track domain increased from 1919 to 1929, and the company got possession of a new Fairmount Park in East St. Louis. Having five tracks under supervision, the Kentucky Jockey Club started dissolving the organization in 1927, for the aim of reorganizing as an independent holding entity. It was finalized in 1928, and the American Turf Association became the new holding entity. The Washington Park was bought by the organization around this time.
In 1942, the top brass of Churchill Downs-Latonia Inc. sold their Latonia track. Later on the same year, the name was changed to Churchill Downs, Inc., and the American Turf Association retained their links with Churchill. However, they sold the last holding which was out of the state, the Lincoln Fields, in 1947.
The demise of the powerful American Turf Association happened on April of 1950, when the stockholders opted to dissolve it.
Trivia about the Kentucky Derby
In 1943, due to the war, travel restrictions caused the birth of the street car derby. More than 60,000 heads went to see Count Fleet, which was a 2 to 5 choice.
In 1945, a government ban threatened to disrupt the straight Derby strings, but the VE Day was followed by a declaration lifting the prohibition. The 71st Derby pushed through.
Four years later, Ponder won the 75th Derby in 1949, which was aired through local TV. Winn died on Oct 6 at the age of 88.

The Breeders Cup is a yearly series of Grade one thoroughbred horse events managed by Breeders' Cup Ltd. Location changes yearly, and all locations have been in the US, save for 1996 when Canada hosted it. The Breeders' Cup was born in 1982 thanks to John Gaines, a horse breeder and owner. As for betting systems and guides, there are many sites that offer updated information on the Breeders' Cup. The Four Seasons Beverly Wilshire Hotel played host to this year's Eclipse Awards and as many predicted the award for Horse of the Year went to (drum roll please) Rachel Alexandra. In total, the three-year-old filly received 130 first place votes, while Zenyatta (the only other horse up for the award) took 99 votes.
Accepting the trophy of the evening for Rachel Alexandra, owner Jess Jackson had this to say: "As long as Rachel is able to run and compete at the top level, we look forward to running at least another year."
What's interesting is that Rachel Alexandra and Zenyatta have never raced each other and if you were to ask Zenyatta's owner Jerry Moss which of the two is more deserving of the Horse of the Year award — well, see for yourself: "Zenyatta's never lost, she's perfect. Nobody's beaten her on the racetrack, so they beat her by proxy as far as I'm concerned."
Zenyatta won the Eclipse Award as the top older female for the second straight year, while Rachel Alexandra was voted top three-year-old filly. Steve Asmussen, Rachel Alexandra's trainer, took home the award for (you guessed it) top trainer.
The Eclipse Awards are voted on by members of the National Turf Writers' Association, the Daily Racing Form and the National Thoroughbred Racing Association.

Joining a field of 13 males in this weekend's 73rd running of the $750,000 Santa Anita Handicap at Santa Anita Park is five-year-old mare St. Trinians, winner of seven out of 11 career starts (and earninsgs of $268,587). The Mike Mitchell trained mare most recently won the Santa Maria Handicap and if she crosses the finish line first on March 6 she will become the first female to do so in the history of the Big 'Cap.
Undefeated in four starts since coming to the United States from England, St Trinians will start from post two with jockey Joel Rosario.

Zenyatta's 2010 debut goes down this Saturday at the Santa Margarita, marking her first start in more than four months. The six-year-old undefeated mare will face eight competitors in a bid for the $250,000 purse leading up to her face-off with 2009 Horse of the Year Rachel Alexandra at the Apple Blossom on April 9. Over at the Meydan Racecourse on Saturday, Gloria De Campeao proved that when it comes to horse racing, sometimes the third time out can be a charm — even if it is by a nose. The French thoroughbred finished 8th in the 2008 Dubai World Cup and then 2nd in the 2009 Dubai World Cup before finally taking the coveted 1st place prize at the 2010 Dubai World Cup. Allybar placed 2nd and Lizard's Desire finished 3rd.
Trainer Pascal Bary had this to say about his winning horse: "To win a race like that with a horse like this is great. He's such a wonderful horse, he always tries. "The other horse finished so fast I wasn't sure if we had won. When he comes to Dubai he is a different horse."

The Kentucky Derby prep races are winding down and the betting favorites for the 2010 Kentucky Derby are slowly but surely lining up for the big event.
There was a lot of excitement this past weekend with top winners Sidney’s Candy and Eskendereya, the Wood Memorial champ. There was also a big kerfuffle at the Santa Anita Derby involving jockey’s Garrett Gomez and Victor Espinoza that ended in suspension and a $750 for throwing punches.
It’s been quite a week in the world of horse racing! Having said that, here are the early favorites for the 2010 Kentucky Derby…as I see it:
Eskendereya
Eskendereya has been on a roll with a strong 9 3/4 length win at the Wood Memorial, as well as a 8 ¾ win at the Fountain of Youth. This horse is strong and has the endurance of a champion so let’s just hope he can continue his strong winning streak.
Sidney’s Candy
Was Sidney’s Candy just in the right place at the right time at the Santa Anita Derby? We’re not sure but either way he’s a strong contender for the Kentucky Derby. He’s used to primarily synthetic s so it will be interesting to see how Sidney’s Candy fares at a dirt track.

As expected the Lexington Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday had no impact on eligible horses for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. The race was won by still another Todd Pletcher trained 3-yr-old, EXHI, who will not have sufficient earnings to make the Kentucky Derby top 20. Of greater importance, however, several prominent Derby contenders had serious recent workouts. How these horses train will be important to all handicappers hoping to separate contenders for the 1-1/4 mile Classic at Churchill Downs on May 1.
Here is the first of my thumbnail Derby workout reports for a handful of the most prominent Kentucky Derby contenders. They are listed with my ranking from 0 to 10, along with key fractional splits:
Churchill Downs, Thurs., Apr. 15:
LOOKIN AT LUCKY: (8-1/2 Rating). 5 furlongs in 1:01.20, with blinkers removed, under a good hold all the way. (“He doesn’t need blinkers anymore,” trainer Bob Baffert said). Fractions were 25.20 and 49.60, with a last furlong in a solid 11:60, galloping out 6 furlongs in 1:14.60.
CONVEYENCE: (8); 5 furlongs in 1:00.60. Frontrunner was slow to get started, but finished last furlong in 11.60, galloping out 6 furlongs in 1:13.60, looking much better than he did when he was second to ENDORSEMENT in the Sunland Derby.
JACKSON BEND: (8). 4 furlongs in 47.40, with 23.60 for the quarter and a last furlong in 12 flat, galloping out 5 furlongs in a leisurely 1:01.20 in company with a stablemate. “I Ioved it,” trainer Nick Zito said.
Churchill Downs, Fri., Apr. 16:
ICE BOX: (7-1/2). 4 furlongs in 48.40 in company. Went 24 flat; galloped out 5 furlongs evenly in 1:02.20, a typically modest work for this Zito trained Fla. Derby winner.
Churchill Downs, Sat., Apr. 17:
SIDNEY’S CANDY: (8-1/2). 5 furlongs in 59.80, with 24.80 and 48.00, getting final 1/8th in 11.80, easily catching workmate, galloping out 6F in 1:12.80, pulling up 7 furlongs in 1:27.40. A fine move for a horse that never has raced on dirt.
KEENELAND, Sat., Apr. 17:
ENDORSEMENT: (9). 5 furlongs in 1:01.60 in company; with 26.60 and 49.40 splits and trainer Shannon Ritter aboard. The Sunland Derby winner made up five lengths in the stretch and galloped out 6 furlongs strongly in 1:14, pulling up 7 furlongs in 1:27 40, an excellent move. Endorsement now is at Churchill and will have two works over the track.
PAYSON PARK TRAINING CENTER, IN FLORIDA, Sat., Apr. 17:
ESKENDEREYA: (8-1/2). 5 furlongs in 1:02.25, with first quarter in 25.01 and last 1/8th in 12.12, galloping out 6 furlongs with good energy in 1:15.32, on a deep racing surface, a deceptively good drill.
DISCREETLY MINE: (7-1/2); 5 furlongs in 1:02.22, galloping out 6 furlongs in 1:15.66. . MISSION IMPAZIBLE: (8). 5 furlongs in 1:02.35, easily beating stablemate RULE (6-1/2); 5 furlongs in 1:02.69.
CHURCHILL DOWNS TRAINING CENTER, Sat, Apr. 17:
DEAN’S KITTEN: (8). 5 furlongs in a fast 59.80 on even terms with trainer Mike Maker's AGE OF HUMOR, who is to run in the Kentucky Oaks on Friday, Apr. 30.

RESEARCHER did score a repeat win in the $1 million Charles Town Classic Saturday night. Veteran jockey Richard Migliore may be forced to retire to protect injured vertebrae suffered in a recent fall. Bob Baffert’s TIZ CHROME was fatally injured while training at Churchill; DROSSELMEYER will run in the G-3 Derby Trial, on Churchill’s opening day card Apr. 24 and worked 5 furlongs in 1:02, at Keeneland, Saturday, with a final 1/8th in 11.90, galloping out 6 furlongs strongly in 1:15.40.

This Saturday’s Kentucky Derby just got a lot more wide open as pre-race favorite Eskendereya has been pulled from the Run for the Roses because of a leg “issue.” Of course Bodog’s horse racing odds will have all the odds and props for the sport’s premier event.
Eskendereya had bolted into favored status ahead of Lookin at Lucky after a 9 3/4-length victory in the Grade 1 Wood Memorial at Aqueduct. In his race before that, the colt dominated a field of 10 in the Grade 2 Fountain of Youth at Gulfstream. Eskendereya’s trainer is Todd Pletcher, who has yet to win a Derby in 24 tries but still is considered arguably the top trainer in the world. He figures to have a whopping six other potential entries in the Derby.
Eskendereya returned from a routine gallop Saturday morning out of sorts, according to Pletcher. When the trainer arrived at his barn Sunday morning, the colt had a large amount of swelling between his left front ankle and knee. Pletcher said he’s hoping the injury, which he compared to a sprained ankle in a human, isn't career-threatening. Eskendereya will undergo an examination when the swelling subsides. So hopefully he will be ready for the Preakness.
According to the New York Times, Mike Battaglia, the oddsmaker at the Churchill Downs racetrack, said the colt would be his morning-line favorite at odds of around 2-1. Last year, Battaglia’s morning-line favorite, I Want Revenge, scratched the morning of the race due to injury.

As expected the Lexington Stakes at Keeneland on Saturday had no impact on eligible horses for the 2010 Kentucky Derby. The race was won by still another Todd Pletcher trained 3-yr-old, EXHI, who will not have sufficient earnings to make the Kentucky Derby top 20. Of greater importance, however, several prominent Derby contenders had serious recent workouts. How these horses train will be important to all handicappers hoping to separate contenders for the 1-1/4 mile Classic at Churchill Downs on May 1.
Here is the first of my thumbnail Derby workout reports for a handful of the most prominent Kentucky Derby contenders. They are listed with my ranking from 0 to 10, along with key fractional splits:
Churchill Downs, Thurs., Apr. 15:
LOOKIN AT LUCKY: (8-1/2 Rating). 5 furlongs in 1:01.20, with blinkers removed, under a good hold all the way. (“He doesn’t need blinkers anymore,” trainer Bob Baffert said). Fractions were 25.20 and 49.60, with a last furlong in a solid 11:60, galloping out 6 furlongs in 1:14.60.
CONVEYENCE: (8); 5 furlongs in 1:00.60. Frontrunner was slow to get started, but finished last furlong in 11.60, galloping out 6 furlongs in 1:13.60, looking much better than he did when he was second to ENDORSEMENT in the Sunland Derby.
JACKSON BEND: (8). 4 furlongs in 47.40, with 23.60 for the quarter and a last furlong in 12 flat, galloping out 5 furlongs in a leisurely 1:01.20 in company with a stablemate. “I Ioved it,” trainer Nick Zito said.
Churchill Downs, Fri., Apr. 16:
ICE BOX: (7-1/2). 4 furlongs in 48.40 in company. Went 24 flat; galloped out 5 furlongs evenly in 1:02.20, a typically modest work for this Zito trained Fla. Derby winner.
Churchill Downs, Sat., Apr. 17:
SIDNEY’S CANDY: (8-1/2). 5 furlongs in 59.80, with 24.80 and 48.00, getting final 1/8th in 11.80, easily catching workmate, galloping out 6F in 1:12.80, pulling up 7 furlongs in 1:27.40. A fine move for a horse that never has raced on dirt.
KEENELAND, Sat., Apr. 17:
ENDORSEMENT: (9). 5 furlongs in 1:01.60 in company; with 26.60 and 49.40 splits and trainer Shannon Ritter aboard. The Sunland Derby winner made up five lengths in the stretch and galloped out 6 furlongs strongly in 1:14, pulling up 7 furlongs in 1:27 40, an excellent move. Endorsement now is at Churchill and will have two works over the track.
PAYSON PARK TRAINING CENTER, IN FLORIDA, Sat., Apr. 17:
ESKENDEREYA: (8-1/2). 5 furlongs in 1:02.25, with first quarter in 25.01 and last 1/8th in 12.12, galloping out 6 furlongs with good energy in 1:15.32, on a deep racing surface, a deceptively good drill.
DISCREETLY MINE: (7-1/2); 5 furlongs in 1:02.22, galloping out 6 furlongs in 1:15.66. . MISSION IMPAZIBLE: (8). 5 furlongs in 1:02.35, easily beating stablemate RULE (6-1/2); 5 furlongs in 1:02.69.
CHURCHILL DOWNS TRAINING CENTER, Sat, Apr. 17:
DEAN’S KITTEN: (8). 5 furlongs in a fast 59.80 on even terms with trainer Mike Maker's AGE OF HUMOR, who is to run in the Kentucky Oaks on Friday, Apr. 30.
ADDED NOTES:
RESEARCHER did score a repeat win in the $1 million Charles Town Classic Saturday night. Veteran jockey Richard Migliore may be forced to retire to protect injured vertebrae suffered in a recent fall. Bob Baffert’s TIZ CHROME was fatally injured while training at Churchill; DROSSELMEYER will run in the G-3 Derby Trial, on Churchill’s opening day card Apr. 24 and worked 5 furlongs in 1:02, at Keeneland, Saturday, with a final 1/8th in 11.90, galloping out 6 furlongs strongly in 1:15.40.
